Easy for Her . . .

The course of my evening was altered by something fun I came across on Michelle's fun Twisted Chick Creations blog. Every once in a while I try to do something she's done, and tonight she gave me reason with a challenge.

At first, I didn't think I had the paper - seven or so different papers suitable for trees. I was surprised by what I found and reacquainted myself with some paper sets I'd long forgotten. I didn't have the right sentiment stamp but with the papers I was using, figured out a way to "make do," which was kind of fun and reminded me of the good old days before I had so much stuff and had to make do frequently (I was more creative then). I used the Christmas stamp from CTMH's Vintage Christmas and the tiny "Merry" from the Stampendous Holiday Words set. The papers were taken from the Creative Basic - Holiday, Everlasting, Heritage, Traditional Holiday, and Autumn's Splendor paper packets, several of which are retired but in plentiful supply at my house. The red background paper is from the new Everlasting set. My "snow" is a piece of Colonial White cardstock that I cut and distressed with my Bamboo Ink pad. I took the pad to the edges of the trees, sentiment, and Ponderosa Pine piece that backs the sentiment, too.

The card was fun, and the second time around, if there is one, will be easy. It's a great idea for scraps, which I have now after cutting into several sheets of virgin paper! I've got another idea (an idea of my own!!) for those scraps, and I just might show it to you if it turns out. For now, I'm going to go clean up my mess - my original plan for this evening. If you haven't already, don't forget to take a look at Michelle's card. It's awesome and very different from mine, which is what makes these challenges fun. And, if you're up for it, make one of your own. Later . . .

I really like this card, Kathi! Reminds me that I need to go through my scraps and use em up. Hope you are able to make your idea come to life! Would love to see what you come up with!

Wow Kathi, you are a posting fiend!! Whenever I get to visit your blog there are a ton of new ideas lol!! Love this card, but you already know that from my post on the boards :D I really like those other tree cards you did with the Impressions stamps! Too many cute ideas too little time! My favorite goes to the practical labels though! That's such a great idea and makes so much sense! Will be lifting that idea for sure!
