Monochromatic Magic

Yeah, I'm back. I didn't want to end the day on a downer, so I went over to Kathi's Corner and just stamped for the fun of it. This technique is called "Emerging Color." The aptly named Stamp Goddess, Tresa Black, made the first card I saw using this technique. Hers was a snowflake card that almost took my breath away. It was so pretty. The directions for "Emerging Color" are as follows:

  1. Stamp cardstock with desired stamps in random pattern. Small, light colored images work best. Allow the ink to dry.
  2. Ink your main image with clear embossing ink, and stamp over smaller images in random pattern.
  3. Pour clear embossing powder on stamped images, tapping off any excess.
  4. Emboss with heat gun. Let cool.
  5. Ink up a sponge with ink from an ink pad, working with the lightest color first if you plan on using two or more colors.
  6. Rubbing in a circular motion, work your ink into the cardstock.
  7. Work from lightest to darkest color until you are satisfied with the look.
  8. Use a paper towel or tissue to wipe any excess ink off your embossed images.
  9. Complete your card as desired.

I chose a monochromatic look, stamping an image from the Delight in Everything set in Blush and Baby Pink. Hollyhock was my third color. The Butterfly stamp is from the Flutter set. I used a narrow white mat under my background piece to give it a little more "pop" against the Hollyhock mat. I stamped the sentiment in Hollyhock and then stamped a couple of butterflies in Blush. White brads and a white organdy bow complete my card.

Happy with this card, I'm ready to tackle that scrapbook layout tomorrow. Until then, take care, and again, thanks for stopping.

Again, this is a great card. Love all the ink layers. I really do need to try this technique. Thanks for reminding me about it.
