Just Singin' My Song

I don't know if I've seen any of the new Cuttlebug embossing folders out in blogland yet. Here's one - Birds & Swirls. The mailman brought me seven of the new ones today. My husband handed me the package (again) when he picked me up at work. "Happy Valentine's Day," he said. "What is it?" Oh well, it's better than the two Cricut cartridges that arrived on his birthday . . . He teased me for days.

This card took awhile but not because it was difficult or anything. I chalked the design first, scrapped it, and grabbed a blending pen and some ink pads instead. I had a lot more control and achieved a much neater look with the pen. It colored design is so pretty, I almost hated to add the sentiment, but I love the words, so I added it. Next time, I'm going to figure out a sketch with the words off to the side so more of the embossed design shows. The sentiment, by the way, was computer generated and is one several very nice bird sentiments that appear in the current issue of Papercrafts. My ink color ended up more Olive than Garden Green, a result of my losing my patience with my 'puter.

I got over my work-related frustration. I thought about the whole thing though and think that the key word in my last post was "disappointed," which was a personal thing. When you think highly of someone, and he lets you down, it's disheartening. Part of what bugs me, too, is that at my age, I should be a little more thick skinned. I'm not tough and guess I'm probably not ever gonna be.

Enough self-analysis. The sentiment on my card, in case you can't see it, reads: "Use the talents you possess. The woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best." It's a point to ponder. Thanks for stopping and putting up with my jabber. Look for more Cuttlebug designs in coming days.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White, Garden Green, and Indian Corn Blue Cardstock, Garden Green and Indian Corn Blue ink pads, Dove Blending Pen, Stampin' Up Mellow Moss ribbon, Gold mini brad, 3M Mounting Tape, Cuttlebug w/Birds & Swirls embossing folder; Computer-generated sentiment.

Kathi, this is beautiful! I think I am going to have to get a few new CB folders now! Maybe I can get them for Valentine's Day too. hee-hee. Although that is also my hubby's b-day, so hmm...not sure how that will work. *Ü*

BTW, thanks for the sweet comment you left on my blog. You are a true blessing to me too! One of these days, we need to actually meet in person. I'd love to give you a big hug!!

Beautiful as always ... and I totally LOVE that sentiment. I just re-started a PaperCrafts subscription. Somehow, I let that lapse.

I hope that the work situation remedies itself. Disappointment is a difficult emotion in ANY situation, but it is a sign that you believe in people (even if they sometimes let you down) and that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Take care.

Off to look online at new Cuttlebug folders ... want to emai me any cheap sites?
