Killer Challenge Card

Other Fridays, I believe I've commented about how much fun it is to start the weekend out with a challenge. Well, not this weekend. The sketch is here on Beate's Fresh & Fun blog.

My card does not look like it should have taken an hour and a half to make. I thought this would be the perfect sketch for my little $1 Blossoms stamp and paper from the Sweet Leaf paper packet. After cutting multiple lengths of several colors of ribbon, I think my card finally worked out but only after adding the striped piece and the pink ribbon. I will say one thing. There's something about a challenge that inspires me to stick to something. Had this not been a challenge card, this baby would have been discarded a half hour into the process. My only consolation is that Beate (who doesn't appear to struggle with anything) said she had a difficult time with this sketch, too.

We're going to be sticking close to home this weekend. The forecast is dreadful. Although the current temperature is currently 22 degrees, tomorrow's forecast high is 0. That wouldn't be a big deal were they not predicting northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph. The thought of a minus 50 degree wind chill makes me shiver. As I'm not going anywhere I don't have to go, perhaps I'll tackle a project - stamping, scrapping, or otherwise - that's a little more ambitious. For now, I'm going to go straighten up my corner. With so much indecision going on, I created quite a mess making this one little card.

Materials & Tools: White Daisy, Baby Pink, and Amethyst cardstock; Sweet Pea paper packet; Black, Baby Pink, Sweet Leaf, Amethyst, Sunny Yellow, and Twilight ink pads; Dove blending pen; Crystal Stickles; Snag'em Stamps Blossom stamp; Papertrey Ink Mixed Messages stamp set; Baby Pink grosgrain ribbon; Empressor guide and tool; Piercing tool; Stampin' Up Piercing Guide & Mat; McGill Diagonal Multi-Tag punch; Sanding Block.

Kathi,

I am glad you stuck with it! Your card turned out great! The little flower image is adorable.
Hopefully next weeks sketch will be easier for the both of us.
Hugs and smiles

Kathi,
Yet another spring-y card ... when the weather in your neck of the woods is so winter-y.

Hmm ... I need one of those placement guides from SU. Love how you have been piercing lately!

Well, I'm sorry to hear this card gave you such fits, because it sure turned out to be beautiful!

Hope you stay warm this wintery weekend. I guess i shouldn't say we are supposed to get up to the 50s then, should I. Nah, don't want to make you feel worse, so I won't mention it!

I'm hoping to get out into my craft room to case some of your awesome cards!
