Sing!

This is my first attempt for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge. I have been wanting to make a card using the April Word Puzzle for several days and decided to try it with this sketch. With the exception of the ribbon (which photographed brighter than it actually is), the card is pretty plain. Perhaps I'll try the sketch again and try to spice it up a bit.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White, Sweet Leaf, and Petal cardstock; Paper Garden paper packet; Sweet Leaf, Chocolate, and Petal ink pads; April Word Puzzle and Papertrey Ink Out on a Limb stamp sets; Cricut w/ Mini Monograms cartridge; Ribbon from Wal-Mart; Sponge daubers.

Now, about the look of my blog. Oldest son Cameron stopped by my desk at work today and somehow the subject of my blog came up. I was complaining that I couldn't change the header because of the wide frame, etc. With that information, he ousted me from my chair, pulled up my blog, went into the HTML code, made a couple of adjustments, and the troublesome frame was gone - just like that. I was a bit mortified, fearing that I might lose more than the frame. Trust the kid, I guess, who's studying computer science and works in the IT department.

As for the current look, I'm not so sure about it. The header is one I purchased (for something like $2.50) and downloaded a while back from a digital scrapbooking site, Shabby Princess maybe. Without the pesky frame, the new header worked, but then came the issue of the background color. The teal obviously wasn't going to work and neither was any other color that Blogger had to offer with the exception of white, which didn't look so hot with the header. Then, I saw the words "Edit color hex code" next to Blogger's color chart. Wondering what that meant, I went to Blogger's Help section and got my answer. With the information, I did a Google search and downloaded a free "Color Picker," which provides the HTML code for the selected color. I was actually able to pull up the photo of the header and run a little wand-type tool over it for the Color Picker to match a color. Then, I copied the HTML code for the new color and pasted it into the spot provided by Blogger. Does any of this make sense? For some of you tech savvy folks out there, this may not be a big deal or anything you didn't already know. For me, it was a major accomplishment. When I see the words "HTML code," I freeze!

Anyway, I don't know that this particular header is "me," and I'm not sure I've got the background color just right. I may play more when I have more time - when the "to do" list is whittled down a bit. With all this excitement, I'm beat, so my Friday Favorites post will have to wait until Saturday. Thanks for stopping. Good, bad, or ugly, let me know what you think of my new look!

2.50 not a bad price for a nice touch!
