May the wings of the butterfly . . .

I've been anxious to post this card since I made it Sunday, as I can't see a single thing I don't love about it. As my own best critic, that isn't a statement I make very often. The backgrounds were created with the Nature Walk set. What's killing me is that the stamp I used to create the very cool background on the green paper got lost somehow before I got it put away. As I have gone through the wastebasket thoroughly (twice even), I can only assume that the sticky stamp is stuck to an unknown something and will reappear at some point in time. While I have yet to permanently lose a stamp, I have been know to misplace one from time to time. Getting back to my card, I randomly stamped the fern using second and third generation ink to create a softer look. The realistic butterfly was colored with markers. Its antennae are wire. While black is not a color I often use with green, it is perfect for this card.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White, Garden Green, and Black cardstock; Black, Garden Green, and Olive stamp pads; Butterflies, Nature Walk, and Butterfly Kisses stamp sets; Sunflower, Goldrush, and Autumn Terracotta markers; Olive organdy ribbon; Black wire; Piercing Tool; Stampin' Up Piercing Guide and Mat; Sponge dauber.

While my photo has some shadows that aren't so great, it also makes the butterfly appear as if it's about to fly off the card.

Rainy and cold outside, there isn't much to do but stamp, so I may be back before the evening is over. I'm still holding out on a couple of favorite cards I made on the weekend, too. With the exception of the hugs and kisses I got from the little ones on my way out the door this morning, there wasn't much of anything about my day worth noting. I take for granted the fact that I was a regular word wizard at work today. Unfortunately, the people I work for take it for granted as well, a fact they will appreciate once I've made my escape or retire, whichever comes first (and I pray it's the first option). In the meanwhile, discussing my employment woes is a waste of time. I'd rather stamp. Thanks for stopping. Later!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! Yes, I am shouting...I'll try to contain myself. This card is just THAT gorgeous. There isn't a thing I don't love about it either! That butterfly does look like it's about to fly off the card and that is quite a trick. You coloring is great.

Sigh...you've outdone yourself on this one, my friend.

I hope the stamp turns up for you. Check the bottom of your trimmer or scrubber...don't ask why I say this. LOL I have lost a stamp, I'm sad to say...the teeny tiny love stamp from Random Thoughts. I watched it fall and bounce onto the carpet, never to be found again. After vacuuming a few times and checking the dirt...no luck. Ah well...it's not like I don't have other "love" stamps.

Wow, a truly amazing card. I love butterfly kisses and although I have a lot of foliage stamps sets and have resisted that one, I think you have pushed me over the edge!

Beautiful card. Love the butterfly effect. The coloring on that little guy is amazing and the black with the green really is working on this card. Very nice. TFS.

Great card. I hear you on the "losing" a stamp. It's pretty easy to do with those clear ones.

Kathy, darling....

This is probably my FAVORITE card that you have made. That butterfly... well... you did a phenomenal job coloring it in! I have been staring at it trying to figure out if it was a silk or dried butterfly that you used on the card. Then I read your description... lol... WOWZA...

Good luck finding the lost stamp...

You simply ROCK :)
