Same Card. . . Different Day . . . With Directions!

A couple of days ago, I promised the directions for the crayon resist technique. Obviously, I changed the color scheme a bit . . .

The materials you need are glossy white cardstock, black archival ink pad, stamp(s) of your choice, one or more dye-based ink pads, white crayon, round sponge or brayer.

The steps (the way I do it) are as follows: 1) Stamp your image, using a permanent black ink, in a random pattern on the glossy cardstock. 2) Let your images dry completely. 3) Using a white crayon, detail your stamped images. 4) With a round sponge or brayer, apply one or more ink colors to the stamped piece. I sponged the flowers first, rubbing the ink into the cardstock using a circular motion. Once the flowers, looked the way I wanted them to, I applied the background color, again rubbing in a circular motion. For this card, I used Carnation Pink and Orange ink pads. 5) The last step is to use a tissue or paper towel to wipe the crayon away.

A great pictorial that includes suggestions for variations can be found here on the Splitcoast Stampers website. Everyone seemed to enjoy making this card at our stamp club meeting the other night, which pleased me, because I sometimes have a hard time coming up with ideas for this group of veteran (good ones, too!) stampers.

Things were a little calmer at work today, so I was able to get a lot done. I was going to relax tonight and put off a big pile of laundry until tomorrow night, but that was prior to learning that there is a family picnic at the nursing home where Marv's dad resides tomorrow night. On Thursday night, I have been invited to join friends for dinner, drinks, and a community theater production of "The Odd Couple." It's the female version, and I'm sure it will be hilarious. I think I'll go. For the past six or seven months, I've been a bit of a recluse, and I think it's time I get out and start circulating again. I'm also thinking I should put a bowling team together for a 5 p.m. Wednesday league that will be starting in August. Two years ago, the team that I was on won the league championship and then disbanded last year. Nothing like quitting on a high note . . . The league I'm thinking about this year is a different one. I like that time of day versus something later in the evening. Going from work to the bowling alley is much more appealing that coming home and then having to force myself to go out again, especially in the wintertime when it's so darned cold.

Well, that's certainly enough jabber, but now you know I do something besides stamp! And . . . with that, I'll go address that pile of laundry. Thanks for stopping! Later . . .

Very pretty! I gotta try that. I've seen a few cards like this on blogs and it looks so cool. I've got some 4x6 glossy photo paper i'm gonna try it on. Should work. :)

Great card, and great tutorial! Love the colors.

LOL on your comment that you do something other than stamp (and work).

Big Hugs!

Do you have any tips for cleaning the archival ink off our stamps or is that just what you get when you use it? I can usually get Staz-on off pretty good, but this stuff is tricky.
