Because It Makes Me Smile

Every once in a while, when talking about a stamp or stamp set, I'll make the comment, "It makes me smile." Such is the case with this chicken. If I were the only person in the world who loves this silly-looking chicken, I wouldn't care. She makes me smile.

About the sketch, it's my take on Taylor's Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #33. The red, white, and blue represent country colors to me, fitting for a chicken.

Materials & Tools: White Daisy, Outdoor Denim, and Cranberry cardstock; Black and Outdoor Denim ink pads; Outdoor Denim gingham paper (retired); Holiday Red, Sunny Yellow, and Grey Flannel markers; Whipper Snapper Designs Standing Chicken rubber stamp; My Favorite Things Eggstra Special Easter stamp set; Hero Arts Art Flowers Summer Collection; White Bigger Brads; Red mini brads; Cuttlebug w/Argyle embossing folder and Nestabilities Classic Ovals set; Liquid Glass.

I made my card last night after everyone else was asleep. Staying up late may have been foolish, because I woke up way too early this morning. I don't care. If I get tired later, I'll take a nap. Last night, I needed that "me time" to unwind after a hectic week.

The little guys are lively this morning. I picked up the "Hooked on Phonics" program for preschoolers a while back, so Bjorn and I have been playing computer games. He has mastered the letter "C." One down, 25 to go! Having started preschool this last week, he's all about learning and is so darned serious and cute about it. Fun! I think we will do a little backtracking and work on "A" and "B," too. I'll feel pretty good if he gets three letters down pat this weekend. While I'm not a teacher, it makes sense to work on a few at a time. No, Grandma's had her break, so it's back to the "classroom." Have a great day! I'll catch you later!

This one makes me smile, too!

You've definitely got the right idea with the boys. Let them guide you in how much they want to try.
