First Time for Everything

This is the first card I've ever made with a four-year-old on my lap and a three-year-old at my side. It's also the first time I've created a card for Julee's Mojo Madness Contest, only because it's a Monday thing, and I'm generally not with it on Mondays. Julee, by the way, is the creator of Verve Stamps, so you can well imagine how drawn I am to her blog, Poetic Artistry.

About my card, it pretty much explains itself. Unusual for me, I inked the edges of every piece of paper on the card with Chocolate ink and a sponge dauber. The kids were quite taken with the process, although Bjorn tried his best to convince me that I should be using green ink. I was also told I should have made an 'ogre' card, and when I said I didn't have any ogre stamps, I was ordered to get some. Maybe someday. Had I not had so much 'help,' I probably would have accented my card with one of my 'rumpled' leaves. As it was, I grabbed a couple of flowers in fall colors, stuck them on my card with a brad, and called it good.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White, Goldrush, and Chocolate cardstock; Harvest paper packet; Chocolate ink pad; Chocolate, Goldrush, and Autumn Terracotta markers; Four Seasons and Papertrey Ink Mixed Messages stamp sets; Just Blooms Autumn Harvest Collection; Chocolate Designer Ribbon Rounds; Chocolate Bigger Brads; Sponge dauber; McGill Multi Tags punch.

The boys are with us tonight for the first time in a long time - too long. With thoughts that he would be going back to his truck-driving job within a day or two, Grandpa asked their daddy if he could "borrow" them for the night and most likely, a good part of tomorrow. We had a fun evening that ended up extending way past bedtime due to a telephone call that came right after we'd said our prayers. There are currently some things going on with Marv's dad, and his sister called for an update. It wasn't a bad call, just bad timing, which is how I ended up with helpers in my corner. Of course, with the routine interrupted, the little ones are still awake and just might outlast Grandma tonight. That card-making adventure took quite a lot out of me. LOL. All in all, it was a good day. I hope yours was, too. Thanks for stopping by!

Gorgeous! You do great work with "helpers." I know how hard it can be to get work done with helpers, having two of my own, but you did a great job!

I hope things smooth out with Marv's dad. I know that is another tough situation.

Hugs!
