I'm Lovin' My Life ...

... More than I'm lovin' my card. I know why I love my life. Family. Friends. Everything I need. I don't know exactly why I'm not loving my card. I think it has something to do with expectations. In my mind, I visualized this knockout card. I ended up with so-so, which is better, I guess, than yuck. Been there. Done that, too. It keeps me humble. LOL.

OK. Down to business. I was inspired to make this card by a color challenge on Kelly Jo's blog, KJ's Stamp Pad. I don't do a lot of color challenges but thought this one looked like fun. It was, albeit I had to throw a little green into the mix. I just couldn't bring myself to do black stems. What you can't see that's kinda cool in person is the black embossed vase and flowers. The outlining on the bottom pink pieces and tag was an afterthought when I realized that the card didn't look "finished."

Oh, and before I forget, my bling is "Acrylic Gems" from the regular crafts section at Walmart. A little bag of 110 multi-colored (clear, turquoise, gold, blue, red, dark pink, and light pink) gems for $3.48. I bought a bag of itty bitty ones, too - same colors, same price. They aren't adhesive back, but when I'm serious about these little things staying on the card, I usually add a Glue Dot or use Liquid Glass to adhere them anyway. While moneywise I don't know if they were such a great deal, I was attracted to the assortment of colors. Remember, too, I live in the boondocks where my access to bling is limited.

Having most likely worn out my welcome by now with silly banter, here's the list: White Daisy, Black, Watermelon, and Bubblegum cardstock; Black and Topiary ink pads; VersaMark ink pad; Black embossing powder; With Love stamp set; Ribbon and Acrylic Gems from Walmart; Black My Legacy Writer; Cuttlebug w/ Spots & Dots embossing folder; Embossing tool.

It's not even 6 p.m. and I'm already in my ratty, plaid flannel pants and big sloppy sweatshirt. For no particular reason, I'm happy as a clam. My plans for the evening include stamping and watching/listening to see/hear who gets the boot on Idol this week. I have no predictions with the exception of who will win. While I'm definitely not one of the 50-something-year-old groupies who love him, I told Marv Adam Lambert was "the one" the first time I saw him perform when there were still 36 contestants. That's enough jabber. Thanks for stopping by, and until tomorrow, take care!

I think this is WONDERFUL! I just can't get over how great it looks. I think when you work on a card from the outset you don't get the WOW of seeing the finished thing in one go.
How did you get those green stems to stamp so well on what looks like embossed white cardstock. Did you stamp before you embossed? Or are they cut out? I clicked on the pic but I cant figure it out, LOL and I gotta know.

Hey, Kathy! I too am veggin' out already. Not in flannel, though...it's hot here in Florida! For me...I'll be watching "Lost". Oh, the joys of an evening with lost (no pun intended, really!) in television.

Your card is gorgeous! What a great find on the rhinestones...I'll have to check them out next time I got shopping. I agree with you on Adam too! :) And sorry you hurt yourself...I hope you're not too sore in the morning.

I think the card looks just great! Great find on the bling...did I tell you they are revamping my Walmart and the craft section is looking mighty different? No fabric any more and less crafty goodness...sigh.

Never watched Idol (is it safe to say that?) I watched Ghost Hunters as I stitched...LOL
