Just a Note

This evening's card was inspired by this card posted recently on Sarah's Paper Trey. If you are familiar with Sarah's work, you know that she does amazing things with Kraft cardstock and loves it as much as I do.

There isn't much to say about my card. I used a 1-1/4 inch square punch (vintage Creative Memories) to punch my squares. Sarah did some stitching on her card, while I added a Barn Red mat instead due to the fact my overcrowded corner will not accommodate a full-size sewing machine. I added a paper flower accent and stamped my sentiment - a simple, albeit attractive, 10-minute (or less) card. Just my style!

Materials & Tools: Stampin' Up Kraft cardstock; CTMH Barn Red cardstock; 7Gypsies Sushi Journey variety pack; Barn Red ink pad; Verve Stamps Asian Flair stamp set; White Just Blooms paper flower; Barn Red Bigger Brads.

Happy Hump Day! My day was quiet and productive. I'm writing two magazine articles, which are due next week. One is for the UK and the other for span Europe. Both have approximately the same word limits (as in long -1,400 and 1,500 words) and will answer the same questions. However, because there is apt to be some crossover in readership, I have to basically tell the same story in two different ways. I've had to do this before, and it's quite a challenge. What I decided to try this time is writing them simultaneously. So far, so good. I will probably finish them tomorrow, well before the deadline and atypical for someone who usually sneaks in under the wire. LOL.

Last night was fun, first playing with the boys outside and later, the little gathering with friends from work. The food was great, and for the record, I did break down and drink one (1) beer. The recipe for my salad can be found here. That was my day ... so far. This evening, I'm going to spend a little time in my corner and then go to bed early. I hope your day was a good one. Enjoy the evening!! Later...

Awesome job on your card Kathi. I want to use this sketch again with some different papers. Speaking of papers, the ones you used are gorgeous.

Sure it's simple, but so so pretty! I love those papers. I have become addicted to purchasing paper pads lately. I must stop!
So....was there anything other than the cabbage and beer? ;-)

Love the card. I have to have a couple of birthday cards this weekend and I will probably use your idea.

What a great card! You say it's simple, but the hard part is putting it together where the pattern and colors are pleasing. Knowing just where to place the flower, or the sentiment. You have such a gift for placement.

I cannot imagine writing two similar articles at the same time! YIKES! I'm glad to hear that it's working for you though.

I'm glad also that you enjoyed the boys and the party. I'll have to try your ramen noodle cabbage salad. Sounds interesting!

Your card is just perfect Kathi! I LOVE those papers you used. I wished I had a square punch, lol much quicker than using Nesties in the Cuttlebug. Thanks for your kind words about my blog!
I am glad your sidewalk monster truck rally with the boys went well and that you had a good time with your friends!

Wonderfully gorgeous card, Kathi! You definitely have a knack for fantastic "simple" cards that pack quite a punch! Love it!

I'm glad your outing went well and that you had a great time with your boys.

Writing two articles at the same time sounds pretty hard, but knowing you as I do, you will pull it off with panache.

Been pretty busy around here this week, not home much, but it's all good...makes for a happy summer for the girls!

I have 10 minutes. Maybe you have inspired me. I think I need a 1 1/4 inch square punch. :)

Kathi this card is awesome. Wouldn't it be nice to have Kraft paper all the time. I might have to invest in some the next time I find it. Being used in a lot of cards these days and I don't remember using it...ever. Thanks for the inspiration and my hubby thanks you too...something else to find room for LOL. You are such an enabler and I love it!!
