Playing Around ...

Here are a couple of cards made with stuff that was close at hand AKA cluttering my desktop - a clear sign that I was kind of lazy last night. LOL.

Looking at this top card, I'm thinking there is something about it that is not quite right. Perhaps, the scalloped circles should have been smaller? Maybe, it's top heavy would look better if it black piece was on the bottom of the card? And, pray tell, how do you attach skinny rickrack? I'm all out of mini GlueDots and resorted to running it through my Xyron Sticker Maker. Whatever works, I guess. I do love the sentiment on this card. Yes, "A happy life is made of little things."

Materials & Tools: White Daisy cardstock; Summer Carnival B&T paper (retired); Doodlebug Design Black Eyelet paper; Holiday Red and Black ink pads; Papertrey Ink Little Lady stamp set; White rickrack; Ribbon from Wal-Mart; 1 and 1-1/4-inch circle punches; Cuttlebug w/Nestabilities Classic Circles set.

My second card was made with a leftover embossed image from stamp club. I scored my Baby Pink cardstock with the Scor-Pal that a very sweet friend left for me to "store" at my house until this fall (after the wedding).

Materials & Tools: White Daisy, Baby Pink, and Bamboo cardstock; VersaMark and Hollyhock ink pads; Bamboo, Blush, and Hollyhock markers; You've Got Flair July SOTM and Say it in Style stamp sets; White embossing powder; Embossing heat tool; Edge Distressor tool; Scor-Pal; Sanding block; 3M foam mounting tape.

I slept until after 9:30 this morning - a rare privilege. My "to-do" list for today is long, mostly domestic chores, which, as Mathias would say, are "not my favorite." I hope your day is a good one. If you get the chance, stop back later for my Simple Saturday offering. I don't know what it will be yet but will come up with something ...

I love both cards but the ladybug one really sticks out to me (could be because my daughter LOVES ladybugs or maybe just the bright colors!!). I don't think that any changes would have made it any better.....it is so stinkin' cute just the way it is!!!

I have to agree with Connie! The first card is so cute and adorable! No changes are necessary. The second card is fantastic also...I love the soft colors. I hope to get to my little corner today, but the "Domestic Fairy" is screaming in my ear, yelling, "Clean slave, Clean!!!" So, off I go and hopefully I'll either shoot the fairy or get my house clean! Wish me luck!

I think both of your cards are great Kathi! Those little lady bugs are too cute. I am going to have to try the ric rac through the Xyron trick!
I have to say though, my eye is drawn to that fabulous image in the second one. Embossed and colored to perfection. The scored card is just the perfect finishing touch! Beautiful.
Glad you got to sleep in!

I love ladybugs! Chloe has three painted on her. This card is very cute - I can't fault it at all! The only way I've attached the tiny ric-rac is with liquid glass. But, of course, you have to place it carefully because there's no moving it around.

Enjoy the day - even the cleaning.

They're both great! I am loving those embossed Flair images. So how do you like the Scor Pal? Worth the investment?

cute little lady bugs. I am drawn to the polka dots. The pink card just blows me away. So pretty. On my wild and crazy Altoids tin album I used ricrac around the edge of the top and used liquid glass to hold it. On the one I made today I used LG for the crocheted ribbon. Works like a charm.

Wonderful cards, Kathi! I love the bright and cheery feel of the first and the soft elegance of the second.

Sounds like you have had a good day. Congrats on sleeping in. I have a feeling after "storing" the scor-pal for awhile, you might be adding a new tool to your arsenal. LOL
