One of a Kind Times Two

One of a Kind_Feb 2010

I have two cards to show you tonight – one I like and the other? Not so much.

I was inspired to purchase the new One of a Kind stamp set by artwork in the Idea Book. I love how it was used on the front cover (so far, that hasn’t worked out so well for me), and I was really taken by the card shown on page 34. This is my rendition of that card – the one I like. The color combination is one of my favorites.

Materials & Tools: White Daisy, Holiday Red, Dutch Blue, and Sunflower cardstock; Tinkerin’ paper packet; Topiary, Holiday Red, Dutch Blue, and Sunflower ink pads; One of a Kind stamp set; Silver mini brads; Piercing tool; Stampin’ Up piercing mat; Stampin’ Up Photo Corner punch; 3M foam mounting tape.

Color might be what I don’t like about this card. Do ya think maybe those little flowers should have been a different color?  I might like it better, too, if the pink flower was more One of a Kind_2_Feb 2010up and down instead of leaning so far to the right.

What I do like is the use of CTMH’s Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint that was mixed with reinkers and “dip-dotted” onto the flowers. I’m really excited that the paint shows up in the photos, too. Shimmer, yes! Glitter, no. LOL.  As the card has elements I like, maybe I’ll try again and get it right next time. I’ll call this one a “prototype.”

Materials & Tools: White Daisy, Spring Iris, and White Daisy textured cardstock; Baby Pink, Lilac Mist, Spring Iris, and Garden Green ink pads; Baby Pink, Spring Iris, and Lilac Mist reinkers; One of a Kind, Intrinsic Backgrounds, and Happy Birthday stamp sets; Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint; Medium stylus; 3M foam mounting tape.

There is no nice way to say this. I had a lousy day and currently detest my job – actually the whole place.  These feelings, I am certain, are temporary. For tonight, however, they would make for a poor conversationalist, so instead of spreading my gloom, I am going to go park my crabby butt in my corner for a little stamp therapy. Unless I am inconsolable (which I doubt), stamping will cheer me up and give me something to show you tomorrow night.

Until then, take care and, as always, thank you for stopping by!

Everyone deserves a visit to the crab house once in a while, girlfriend!

I just got this stamp set this week and haven't inked it up yet. The Idea Book inspired me as well...now you have done the same!

Love the pearl paint!

Neat cards, but you know what? I like the second card best.

I have found a lot of neat card ideas in the new book.

Hope you can get lots of stamping done.

Gorgeous cards! Both so different but lovely. I've been on a real white card kick lately so your 2nd one is especially fabulous... hope you're feeling better and have a better day at work tomorrow!

I like them both, though I tend to like brighter colors more. Have a great time stamping!

I, too, like both of them, but can also see how the one flower might be leaning just a teensy bit. Great work, though and it looks like a fun set to play with. Yay on the paint!

So sorry to hear that you had such a rough day. Here's hoping that it gets better at work and SOON!

Hugs!

Kathi Love what you did with create a shade. Very beautiful cards!
Hope you get to feeling better about your job... Sometimes it just sucks. I worked at Kohler Co. for 10years in the factory. What a circus. :)
Better days ahead my friend!
