Simple Saturday … Kinda

Gossamer_Feb 2010

My Simple Saturday offering is based on FTL80 on the Clean & Simple Stamping blog. As you can tell, I was in the mood for something bright.

The image was colored with markers. I stamped it twice, cut out the bottom flower and then colored it and popped it up a bit with foam tape. I made it last night and obviously should have turned on both lamps, because I noticed when when I took my photo, the top button is not black. It’s navy blue. Sigh… I glued it on with Liquid Glass, too, which means prying it off might prove to be a challenge.

Materials & Tools: White Daisy and Holiday Red cardstock; Doodlebug Designs Black Eyelet and Martha Stewart Classic Woodland patterned paper; Black ink pad; Holiday Red, Cranberry, and Topiary markers; Penny Black Gossamer stamp and CTMH Say it in Style stamp set; Buttons from my stash; 3M foam mounting tape.

I’ve had a strange day. After not being able to get to sleep until around 4 am, I got up at 8 and then ran on a half a tank until 2 when I fell asleep. I just woke up again. It remains to be seen whether this odd sleep pattern will continue.

Prior to my nap, I was extremely annoyed with my computer. The Internet was cutting in and out, which seems to happen when the weather gets mild/damp.I don’t know if it’s something with the cable connection or my modem, although I tend to think it’s the former. I came home to the same thing yesterday afternoon. Additionally, my monitor is dying. The other evening, I noticed a thin, black vertical line about three-quarters of an inch long on the screen. The next day, it was a little longer. It’s about five inches long/tall today, and there appears to be another line starting right next to it. I searched Google to diagnose the problem and then called my whiz kid who confirmed the pixels are dying. However, as husband will not replace anything until it is officially dead (that might actually be a good thing for me), I’ll be living with it for however long it takes. LOL.

That’s about all I’ve got to tell you. I’ve been working on a project I’m dying to show you but need an item that will be coming with an order from CTMH this next week to finish it. Having been awake for the first reporting of the earthquake in Chile, I was relieved to wake up this evening and learn Hawaii had escaped a tsunami.

Enough jabber. I hope you are having a great day. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Absolutely LOVE that card. I have that Penny Black stamp, but never thought of doing black and red.

It's beautiful - I wouldn't have known about the black/navy button if you hadn't told us! Funny story - when I find shoes that are comfortable, I buy them in every color (I'm hard to fit). I once wore one black and one navy shoe to work! Talk about embarasing!?! That evening, I wrote "BLACK" inside both of the black ones.

I loved your comment that the DH doesn't get rid of things until they're dead - and that was a good thing for you! It took a moment to fully settle in and then I got the fully belly laugh out of it! What a visual.

Good luck with the internet and monitor.

Hugs!

Well, just make sure you back up everything....then you could perhaps speed up its demise?
And a button idea here.....can't you color them with your Copic markers? I haven't tried yet, but perhaps you can use a black marker on the navy button?
Good luck, dear....

I love the red and black combination. Those flowers are lovely. I, too, would not have noticed the mismatched button had you not mentioned it. Can you maybe put some glue on the top of it and add some black glitter? Or slice it off with an exacto knife?

I'm sorry to hear your monitor is going out. I know how frustrating that must be. Although I am glad that Marv isn't too quick to throw out certain things! LOL That was a funny comment you made.

I hope you got a good night's sleep and are refreshed to enjoy your Sunday!

Greetings from Colorado Kathi. It's so good to be back visiting with you.

Your card is simply gorgeous. I love the bright colors and how you did the flowers. I had to giggle about the navy blue button. I think that's totally something I would do. I hope you are able to repair it without too much damage.

As for your monitor, here's hoping it dies quickly so you can replace it. I hope you slept better last night. Blessings for a great Sunday.
