Rummaging through my basketful of Basic Grey paper pads last night, I came across Archaic and hoped I would have occasion to use it again soon. When I saw the sketch for C4C55 on the Crazy for Challenges blog, I thought of the Archaic papers and “Harold,” a digi image in my file.
Is Harold a dinosaur or a dragon? I have been thinking he is a dinosaur but wonder if he isn’t a dragon. Regardless, he’s kind of cute.
Materials & Tools: Colonial White and Cocoa cardstock; Basic Grey Archaic 6x6-inch paper pad; Autumn Terracotta and Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distressing Ink stamp pads; “Harold” digital image from DigiStamp Boutique; Happy Birthday stamp set; Autumn Terracotta Bigger Brads; Martha Stewart Embossed Zigzag Edger punch; Prismacolor colored pencils; Gamsol odorless mineral spirits; Blending stumps; Sponge dauber; 1 and 1-1/4-inch circle punches; Sanding block; 3M foam mounting tape.
Here’s another card that features me and one of my pals. Are there any frizzy-haired redheads out there who like martinis? It could be you. LOL. I used the sketch from Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #128 again.
Materials & Tools: Colonial White, Bamboo, Black, and Holiday Red cardstock; Silhouette Creative Basics; Black, Twilight, and Chocolate ink pads; Autumn Terracotta, Garden Green, Holiday Red, Baby Pink, Grey Flannel, Desert Sand, Sweet Leaf, and Tombow #580 Flesh markers; Emerson Quillin "The Gals" rubber stamp from American Art Stamps; Papertrey Ink Mixed Messages stamp set; Red satin ribbon and black button from my stash; Ecru crochet cotton; Dove blending pen. Martha Stewart Double Layered Arches border punch.
I didn’t know for a while if I would end up showing you this card or not. Photographing the “glass” was a challenge. Speaking of challenges, this card meets the requirements for two – first, Stamp Simply Challenge #157 – Cracked Glass on the No Time to Stamp? blog and secondly, Unscripted Sketches #73.
A tutorial for the Cracked Glass technique can be found here. While I finally managed to get a photo that isn’t all glare, it does not do the card justice. Another PIP! Oh, and the sentiment is going on the inside, as I couldn’t come up with a bright idea with regard to what to do on the outside of the card. The ribbon was red and white, which wouldn’t do, so I “unwhitened” it with Antique Linen Distressing Ink.
Materials & Tools: Colonial White, New England Ivy, and Desert Sand cardstock; Graphic 45 paper from the Communiqué Collection; Black and Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distressing Ink stamp pads; Holiday Red, Cranberry, Brown Bag, and Garden Green markers; Cranberry gingham ribbon; Stampin’ Up Pewter Jumbo Brads; Crop-O-Dile; Ultra-thick clear embossing powder; Embossing heat tool.
A Slice of Life: It has been a lazy restful day. Tonight, I am going to visit Mom. I’m taking my felt project with me. I discovered that after not having sewed for so many years, I don’t have a scissors fit for fabric. I hope your day was wonderful and you are looking forward to the week to come. Take care, friends, and thanks for stopping.

So cute, still loving those ladies!
Love the card for this week's Unscripted Sketch challenge - and that crackled glass technique is very cool - will have to try that! Thanks for joining us this week! Becky G. (US DT)
Gosh Kathi! I am so impressed!!! I spent most of the afternoon trying to make one card - finally setting it aside and got two quickies created. At least now I feel like I've done Something! Your cards are wonderful - each one! I guess I think he's a dragon. But, no wings?
The two ladies are so funny! I sometimes have frizzy red hair, but I don't drink martinis so it's not me! LOL
The last one is fabulous - I love the cracked glass technique and your card reminds me of a vintage kitchen. It feels like home.
I bet I don't have any scissors that could cut fabric, either. Using them for paper does dull them. It's a shame, because I probably own 20 pairs of scissors! (seriously - a problem, I know).
Hugs!
Wow, everyone of your cards is so unique! LOVE that little guy on the first card, the black on the second is a great, dramatic look and wowie on the Unscripted sketch card with that cracked glass technique.
Your cards are so cute. I hate to say it, but I think Harold is a dragon.
Such darling cards!
All of these are fantastic! Love all of the details you've added. So glad you joined US for this weeks sketch challenge! :)
A few more fabulous cards, Kathi! Each one is fun and unique. The dragon/dinosaur one is a super masculine card, those gals are a hoot, and your cracked glass one is so pretty. Thanks for the tip on how to unwhiten that ribbon. Looks like you took full advantage of your quiet time.
Hope your mom had acceptable scissors so you could move forward on your project!
Have a great week!
THese are all wonderfuly Kathi. I'm not sure either what Harold is. Either way, he's sure cute and looks great with those papers. Your second fun card is SO stinkin cute. I don't have frizzy hair and don't drink so it's probably not me standing there next to you.
Lastly, your cracked glass technique card is so pretty. You've done a great job with that technique and thought your photo did capture it well.
I hope you have a wonderful Monday and I'm glad to hear that your Sunday was restful.
OMG talk about LOL. These two get to me everytime i see them together. LOL
Love the cards!! The cracked glass, I never tried that, but would like to.
