What Goes Around …

Happy Journey_September 2010

…comes around. Craft supplies are like clothes. If you keep them long enough, they come back into style. I’m seeing a lot of doilies on cards these day and am glad I hung on to the ones I’ve had for what seems like ages.

Put together and pulled apart more times than I can remember, it is a wonder this card looks as good as it does. I had this one all together when I deemed the green patterned paper on the Juniper mat didn’t look all that great. Trimming patterned paper with adhesive on the back of it is no small task. However, the skinny brown mat was an improvement, so it was worth it.

Now, if someone tells me this card is “interesting,” I will probably quit stamping for the rest of the week – maybe longer. I am still laughing over a couple of comments on my last post. When I don’t know quite what to say about something, I say that is is “interesting,” too. And just to let you know, that image is not my favorite either. I will take cute or pretty over creepy any day. If you see any more Halloween from me, it will be cute. Heck, maybe I’ll just show you the cards I buy at Hallmark. LOL.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White, Juniper, and Cocoa cardstock; Veranda paper packet; Cocoa and Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distressing Ink stamp pads; Happy Journey stamp set; Doily from my stash; KaiserKraft pearl accents; Martha Stewart Butterfly punch.

A Slice of Life: If I go to bed early, I wake up early. If I don’t get up when I wake up the first time, I don’t want to get up when it is time to get up. My internal alarm clock went off at 4 am and again at 5:30 – too early. When it was time to get up at 7, I stole an extra 15 minutes, which had me scrambling to get to work on time. It all worked out OK though, and I had a great day at work. Busy is good, and today had just enough variety to make it fun. Husband went on a road trip with his brother and won’t be home until late. I stopped to visit Mom, but she was on her way out to a catered meal that is served at her complex each month. I love it, and the fact that I’m all by my lonesome this evening doesn’t bother me one little bit. Oops, I spoke too soon. He’s home, which means I better go give him a little attention.

I hope you had a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by.

Just BEAUTIFUL! I love the doily and the layers of color - the sliver of mat is just perfect! I know how sometimes I'm not satisfied and fiddle and fiddle . . . it's kind of nice to know that even my favorite artist does it, too. Hugs!

This card isn't just "interesting" it is downright beautiful! *Ü* I agree with you on the trends, I've seen lots of doilies popping up too. Your use of it is lovely. That sentiment is always a good reminder whenever I see it.

Now, even though I used the word, "interesting" hopefully it won't make you not stamp anymore this week. LOL

This is so pretty. That doily is perfect and those have been popping up lots of places. I love the 2 brown strips on the left side of the card. They really add to it.

I hope you have a great Wednesday.
