Love Ewe

Are you having a good weekend? I just caught the half-time act during the Super Bowl. What fun! I also saw/heard Christina Aguilera sing (“mangle” according to USA Today) the national anthem at the start of the game. I will just say that it was not my favorite rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. Lea Michele’s “America the Beautiful” was great. So much for my armchair critique. With Husband manning the remote control and more channel surfing than normal going on, I’m not even trying to follow the game. May the best team win.

I didn’t feel like stamping today until I saw some of this week’s sketch challenges. This one is SSS94 as featured on The Sweet Stop blog.

A Slice of Life: Well, I made it through another workweek and believe I have caught up on my rest. Sixteen hours should do it. LOL. Bjorn and Mathias stayed with us last night. Mari was here, too, for about an hour in the afternoon while her Mommy and Daddy did some shopping. She’s coming back tomorrow afternoon. Miranda has a doctor’s appointment. Next Saturday, she’s spending the night! After the little boys left today, I went to have coffee with Mom and make a lunch/shopping date for tomorrow. I’m going to bring her home with me, too, so she can spend a little time with her great-granddaughter.

As usual, I have 100 or so things I want to get done during the next few days. More realistically, I made a “Gotta Do” list with six items on it. There is one that  I can accomplish tonight if I just get to it … like now. LOL.

It’s Not All Black and White

When I sat down at my stamp desk tonight, this stamp caught my eye. I just love it plain and simple. The card? It’ll be a good one to send to one of my big boys for no reason more than I want to tell him I love ‘im. I do that once in a while, and while they contain their excitement, I can tell they kinda like it. 

Anyone remember this patterned paper? It’s an old CTMH pattern from back in the days when it offered Background and Texture papers to match each of its cardstock colors. While I sold most of my full sheets after these papers were retired, I have a huge bag of scraps that is kind of fun to dig into once in a while.

I had a great day today with the exception of a little bout with nausea that sent me home around midday. What that was about, I dunno. Pregnancy has been ruled out. LOL. It might have been the bottle of orange juice I drank this morning. That’s what I get for trying to do something healthy.

It's a ... Baby!

No, I didn't get fired. Instead, I'm home early taking care of the little guys whose daycare provider took the day off. I'll explain more later. There's a little story, of course. Always is. LOL.

Here are a couple of cards I made on the weekend - Baby cards made with stamps that that aren't necessarily baby stamps. They're very simple but cute, if I do say so myself. I used Cuttlebug border embossing folders, nifty little things that all too often I forget I own. I also used a blurb punch on the little boy card. While I've had it for years, I don't think I'd every actually used it on something. Other than that, I don't think there's much to say.

I worked five hours today, beginning at 7:15. We've known for several days that Cameron's daycare provider wasn't working today, and the plan was to split the day three ways between Grandpa, Daddy, and myself. Cameron, however, had a day of meetings, none of which he was comfortable missing. That left me and Grandpa, who has to play golf on "Men's Day" (like every day isn't "men's day" on a golf course for crying out loud). Before I left this morning I told him what time I'd be home to which he replied, "The sooner the better." That was not a smart thing for him to have said to a not-a-morning-person at 6:45. He was quickly reminded that I was taking vacation time so he could play golf. Let's just say he didn't say more, which was smart of him.

While I won't tell him, the truth of the matter is I didn't mind having to leave work. By 7:30 a.m., I was in a vice president's office trying to unruffle his feathers. Nothing I did, mind you, but another vice president. I wasn't in the mood for office politics that early in the day either. Playing Cootie and Memory is much more fun. I'm off to play a game of Memory right now, and then we're going to make dinner, a rice and broccoli casserole that is Uncle Dusty's favorite. With a little luck, I'll catch you later! Doubling Up Again

No "one-for-two-challenges" card tonight. Instead, it's two cards! On a week night, no less! Both were made with stamps from Unity Stamps, each of which "spoke to me" in different ways. Both cards were made with the same color scheme and very similar sketches.

While the sentiment stamp I used to make this first card is one I won't use often, I can see myself using it to make a card for someone who is in a time of transition. I understand the words, because I've lived them.

This second card was made with another stamp that "spoke to me." For me, it's a cute representation of a mother's bond with her child. It will be a great stamp to use to make a baby card or, in this case, my mother-in-law's Mother's Day card.
