Inkspired Yet Again

This is my interpretation of this card I saw on Beate's Fresh & Fun blog last month. It was Jennifer Buck's card for this sketch. Talk about thinking outside the box. Wow! And, there's more great cards to see on Jennifer's aptly named blog, The Buck Stamps Here.

With regard to stamplifting her card, it wasn't easy, and I'm not 100 percent happy with my collar. Instead of the real thing, I used my Simple Stitches stamp set for my topstitching. Heaven forbid were I to bring out my sewing machine. If I did, my husband would think I was going to mend a pair of jeans he wants me to fix. The jeans belong in the trash. As I don't have any brown buttons, I used large Colonial White conchos and large brown brads to create what I hope look like snaps. Without the flower that I didn't want to add, I'm thinking my shirt front is looking a little bare and might look better with the sentiment moved up and centered over the pocket. I did trace my collar pieces and pocket should I want to try this one again. The placket is a 1 x 4-1/2 strip of paper. The pocket was cut from is a 2 x 2-1/4 inch piece. One more thing . . . That Stampin' Up Piercing Mat works wonderfully with conchos. All you have to do is figure out where you want it to go and press down it down through the paper and into the mat with your thumb. Then, you just have to flip your paper over and press the prongs down with whatever instrument you use. I use the opposite end of my piercing tool.

After I sign off, I'm going to take my new copy of Papercrafts magazine and go to bed. I flipped through it earlier, and it appears to hold lots of fun ideas. I'm going into the week without a solid plan for anything. I have some routine stuff to do at work, so I guess I'll get that done and then just sit back and wait for the surprises that are sure to come my way. Hopefully, there won't be too many. I only had time to do enough housework to get by this weekend, which means I might actually have to do some domestic stuff on the weeknights. I may go to a political caucus on Tuesday evening. I'm actually as undecided about going as I am about the candidates. Stupid me, however. I was not very quick thinking on Friday afternoon when I told a campaign caller that I was undecided. What that lead to was that particular campaign calling repeatedly for the remainder of the weekend in an effort to help me make up my mind. It was a good weekend to be out of the house a good portion of the time. Both of my sons are going to caucus, and I'm proud that at 28 and 29 they want to be involved . . . even though their political leanings are somewhat different from my own. Cameron is going to need someone to watch Bjorn and Mathias. Maybe that will be my roll on Super Tuesday. We'll see. Regardless of what the week brings, I'll be hanging out in Kathi's Corner whenever I get a chance, so please stop back. Until then, have a great week!

This is a great card, Kathi! I like that you even attempted it, so you get high scores in my book. That long side of the collar looks a little too narrow and maybe that is what is bugging you? I think your solution for the buttons is very creative. Not so sure about the sentiment on the pocket...seems to be a little stark against the brown. Maybe use a different color and add some distressing to it?

Gosh, not that you asked, right? These were just ideas flowing out as I typed. Take or leave them! LOL

Great masculine card idea and again I am impressed you created one at all!
