Inkspired, Etc.

My card was inspired by this card on Lauren's My Time, My Creations, My Stampendence blog.

I love - you guessed it - the simple style. I also like the dimension that doesn't show all that well in the photograph. The white square and all of the 1-1/4 inch colored squares are mounted with foam tape. Of course, I didn't have the flower that Lauren used, but I think the 2-inch CTMH Big Pinks flower looks great, too. As for the flower center, it's one of the little acrylic discs that are all the rage right now. While killing time between appointments with the cardiologist in Grand Forks last Monday, I nearly turned Michael's and JoAnn's upside down looking for these things. While I didn't have any luck, don't you suppose there were some in my mailbox on Friday - little bags of green, blue, and pink mixed with clear and the most wonderful handmade card from my great friend Jeanne in Denver. What a great pick-me-up, and her timing could not have been better! Thank you, Jeanne. Living in the boondocks, I occasionally give her a hard time about having a host of hobby-type stores nearby. I have yet to step into an Archivers or Hobby Lobby. Poor me. LOL.

Materials & Tools: White, Black, Grey Wool, Topiary, and Sweet Leaf cardstock; Black ink pad; Friendship Blessings stamp set; Just Blooms Big Pinks; Green acrylic disc from Micheal's (Denver, not Grand Forks!); 3M foam mounting tape; Liquid Glass (to adhere the flower and flower center).

Like Christmas day, our Easter celebration started early and ended early. Like Christmas, that's OK with this Grandma. I pulled off a great brunch that featured a quiche made with Egg Beaters. It was good as were the muffins, fresh fruit assortment, and juice that went with it. Cameron and the boys and Dustin and his girlfriend, Miranda, were here. We had a great time, albeit Dusty wasn't feeling well and Bjorn and Mathias were a little hyped up by the time they left after eating too much candy.

I have to say my trip to the grocery store yesterday was quite an adventure. Never before had I paid so much attention to labels, and I couldn't find the Egg Beaters to save my soul. I must have gone back and forth through the dairy cases 10 times before the light bulb went off, and I realized they might be with the eggs! I have a lot to learn, although I did a little surfing on the Internet a little while ago and don't think this "heart-healthy" stuff is going to be as difficult as I thought. There are some very specific things one can eat and drink to raise one's good cholesterol and lower the bad cholesterol. Also recommended are six mini-meals per day instead of three big meals. Nine or more servings of fruits and vegetables sounds a little daunting until one reads what a serving actually consists of.

Maybe I'll turn this food/cholesterol thing into another hobby and start another blog. My personal habits could stand some improvement, too. Because, so far, I've never had to pay any attention to a scale, I haven't given a lot of thought to what I eat either. My eating Frito's for breakfast is kind of a standing joke at work, and while I don't think I could choke down a bowl of highly-recommended oatmeal, I suppose I could replace my corn chips slice or two of whole grain toast.

That's enough about that subject. I'm going to go take a little nap and then decide what I need to do to prepare for a much-desired normal week. As my ordinary life includes hanging out in my corner, I'll most likely be back with another post. Later!
