A Couple More Cards

Yup, I did what every wise person does on a full stomach. I laid down and fell fast asleep. Marv did the same thing, and we both woke up around 10:30, thinking that it was morning. He went back to bed, and I went to my corner and made a couple of cards.

The colors for this first card were inspired by the bright designer paper. The whimsical Thoughts of You stamp set was one I was going to pass up until a friend commented that she liked it. Then, I had to have it. Evidently, Connie knows best, because it's currently one of my favorites.

Materials & Tools: White Daisy textured cardstock; White Daisy, Watermelon, and Cocoa cardstock; Cocoa, Topiary, Watermelon, and Bubblegum ink pads; Basic Grey Sultry designer paper; Thoughts of You stamp set; Acrylic discs from Michael's; Ribbon from Wal-Mart; Corner rounder; 3M foam mounting tape.

My second card was one I saw somewhere in the blogosphere in the last few days. The original stamper had used green and white polka dot paper for the background and paper-piecing the wheel barrow. It dawned on me tonight that I could accomplish something close with the Cuttlebug, Swiss Dots embossing folder, and a sanding block. It worked. There's nothing much to explain here with the exception that I used yellow chalk to fill in between the flowers in the wheel barrow.

Materials & Tools: White Daisy and Sweet Leaf cardstock; Black, Sweet Leaf, Grey Wool, and Grey Flannel ink pads; Sunny Yellow, Honey, and Topiary markers; Stampin' Up Blooming with Love and CTMH Say it in Style May SOTM stamp sets; White gel pen; White mini brads; Yellow chalk w/sponge applicator; Cuttlebug w/Swiss Dots embossing folder.

I think I'm ready to go back to bed now. During my nap, I had the weirdest dream that involved work. I think strange dreams and full stomachs go hand in hand . . . with me anyway. I dreamt that there was a concrete wall in the building that needed to be painted every day with some kind of smelly sealant. Because the task was not included in the job descriptions of any of the custodians or maintenance people, the job was assigned to me. I was not happy, but instead of saying outright that I wasn't going to do it, I made wise cracks to a vice president about there being no sense in my dressing decent anymore, etc., etc. It was all quite bizarre with the exception that I probably would make some smart remarks. The dream must have evolved from the fact that I was asked to rewrite my job description a couple of weeks ago. Because my job was a new position two and a half years ago, I've kind of created it as I've gone along and am doing a lot of things that weren't in the original, rather vague job description.

Hopefully, my food from dinner has digested well enough for me to sleep dream-free for the rest of the night. Thanks for stopping by. I'm going to be domestic tomorrow but will most likely retreat to my corner once in awhile for a little stamp therapy. Have a good day!

Stupid question from Maricar #562:
Is the wheelbarrow part of the SU set? (I know you paper pieced ...)

Love this one. Love spring time. Love the cute flowers.

Two different, but equally pretty cards! Love the brightness of the first and the softness of the second.

Hope your sleep is restful!
