More Hot Stuff

I wish textured cardstock photographed well, and I suppose it would if I had the right equipment and/or know-how. If you could see it and touch the texture of the paper, it would make my card seem so much less plain. I love the stuff for the reason that it gives the simplest of designs a rich, I-can-stand-on-my-own look.

My card, of course, was created with what was still on my desk from last night - a scrap of the diagonally striped paper and my Hot Stuff stamp set. I did a little paper piecing for the dress, stamping a scrap of Sweet Leaf cardstock with the polka dot stamp from the Spot on Backgrounds set. Another thing I've been using a lot of lately but have failed to mention specifically are the new Close To My Heart Bitty Brads. They are "bitty," with me wondering every time I open the jar if I need to grab for my bifocals. Nonetheless, once I "catch" the color I'm looking for from the assortment of black, white, antiqued copper, pewter, gold, and silver, they are as easy to use as mini brads. I really like the tiny ones, especially for the corners of cards where the bulk of the prongs of a mini brad is a bit much.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White and Sweet Leaf cardstock; Bamboo, Twilight, and Chocolate textured cardstock; K&Company Amy Butler Designer Mat Pad; Black, Chocolate, and Twilight ink pads; Tombow Flesh marker; My Favorite Things Hot Stuff and CTMH Spot on Backgrounds stamp sets; Bitty Brads; Chocolate grosgrain ribbon; Dove blending pen; Stampin' Up Word Window punch.

Today was just an ordinary day, which is a good . . . I think. American Idol is over with the exception of the result of the votes and declaration of the winner, which will air tomorrow evening. "My man" may have been out-performed tonight. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out. Home is certainly normal tonight, even though I haven't been asked to close the door while I'm blogging . . . yet. Marv just asked, "Are you watching TV in the bedroom." I glanced over at him and asked, "What kind of stupid question is that?" Obviously, I'm not in the bedroom. He got up and went and shut it off. This must be the life of an old couple. Sigh . . .

I heard through the grapevine today that my sister's granddaughter was born last night. Little Hailey, I'm told, weighed 9 pounds, 10 ounces. Something tells me that all of those little newborn outfits will be worn once and that's probably only if they change her clothes several times a day. That is a big baby! I also heard that the new daddy said he's not going through that again. Funny. When I had my boys, I didn't think the "he" involved had much to complain about. All "he" did was watch the fetal monitor and inform me of hard contractions (like I needed to be told) and strut around like a proud rooster.

That's enough jabber out of me for tonight. I need to run to the grocery store. Then I'm going to take a nice hot bath and go to bed. Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back mid-week ( as in tomorrow).

Another great card! I love how you can take your scraps and come up with a great design. Love the paper-pieced and stamped dress. Those are some small brads!

While you were watching AI, I was out "slaving" in my craft room, working on another card set for Jessica's teachers. LOL No pictures yet as I finished right at bedtime.
