Not What They Appear to Be

Yes, they are wedding cards. Yes, the designs are very simple. No, they did not take me five minutes to make, although they do not look like much more.

My cards tonight were made with a set called "Wedding Essentials" from Flourishes. I was attracted to the Mr. & Mrs. stamps, the rings, the simple "From This Day Forward" sentiment, and a detailed flourish stamp. The set also includes some word stamps that are appropriate for scrapbooking or that I may use in the event that I am commissioned to design and make wedding invitations again.

The reason that these cards took so long this evening is because when designs are as simple as these, there isn't any margin for error. Things need to be centered and straight. If one's paper is off as little as a 1/16th of an inch, it shows. What doesn't show in the photograph are the flourishes stamped on the Colonial White cardstock with same color ink. As I said the stamp is very fine, and the look, in person, is very soft, which was what I wanted. Additionally, I don't know if the photo will reveal it, but the black and white card is mounted on black cardstock. The sentiment and rings on the ivory card were embossed with a gold detail powder. The rings on the black and white card are embossed with a silver tinsel powder. The gold metallic paper is a discontinued product from Close To My Heart. I don't recall the source of the silver paper - leftovers from wedding invitations I made a couple of years ago. As I believe I've discussed every product I used that isn't obvious, I'll skip the materials and tools list tonight. If you have a question, just ask, and I'll answer it.

Making cards tonight was the highlight of my day. Other than that, it was just a day. The weather was nice, and I'm hoping that the sun shines again tomorrow. Tonight, it's time to get some rest. Thanks for stopping. May yours be a wonderful week.

Hey Kathi! The bp is acting up again, so I've only been on the computer for short bits of time. I wanted to be sure to tell you how very beautiful these cards are! Looks like you found your wedding stamps and used them to perfection!
