Something Different . . . and Fun!

When it comes to paper engineering, I'm no wizard. First, I'm almost like a male in the fact that I don't/won't read directions. If a tutorial has a couple of photographs, I'll look at them and figure I've got it, only to find out later that wasn't the case. I also have the attention span of an eight-year-old. If something is going to take too long, it's not for me. Every once in a while, though, I get a bug to do something different, and still impressed with my woven paper basket from February, I felt I was up for the challenge on this one. The directions are here for what they are calling a "Box in a Bag" on the Inking Addict blog. The dimensions of the box at the base are 2-1/2 by 2-1/2, and it is six inches tall. Certain that it would take me more than one try to get it right, I chose some long-retired, albeit pretty, CTMH patterned paper. As for the wedding theme, it seemed appropriate for the paper, and I was thinking as I was making it that it would be fun to make for shower favors or a nice container for a bride's gifts for her attendants. Change out the paper and decorations and there are all kinds of occasions when a cute little bag/box like this might come in handy.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White and Desert Sand cardstock; Retired CTMH patterned paper; Flourishes Wedding Essentials stamp set; Versa-Mark ink pad; Gold detail embossing powder; Embossing tool; Cuttlebug w/Nestabilities Classic Circles set; Stampin' Up Very Vanilla taffeta ribbon; EK Success Corner Rounder; Stampin' Up Round Tab punch; Crop-O-Dile; Terrifically Tacky Tape.

Like always, stamp club was fun tonight. I'm tired tonight though, probably because I didn't get a nap today. That's OK, as I'm not going to get one tomorrow either. Bjorn and Mathias are going to be staying with us tomorrow night, so I hope I'm a little perkier than I've been the past few days. I'm anxious to hear about the turtle at daycare.

As requested, I'll show you step-by-step how I color a Monarch butterfly within the next day or two. As for what else I have up my sleeve, I can't say, because I haven't got anything specific planned. It will be as much a surprise to me as it is to you - just the way I like it. By the way, I am looking for a template for an individual cupcake box, as I need to make a half-dozen or so for something I've got planned for the second week in July. Has anyone seen one anywhere? If not, I might just have to try my hand at designing one.

I hope your week is a good one, and as always, thanks for stopping by.

Oh Kathi! I think this is so pretty! We definitely have the same tastes for what we like, because I made one of these totes, too. I haven't posted yet as it didn't go with the fish "theme."

I'm going to percolate on the individual cupcake box. I could swear I saw one somewhere not too long ago...

Looking forward to the step by stem and hearing about the turtle! :o)

Very nice box/bag. The theme does match really well with the papers. Thank you for sharing the tutorial as well.

About the individual cupcake boxes...Papertrey sells Gable Boxes...5 for $4, I think. They can be covered with patterned paper and decorated any way you see fit. I've included a link so you can see what Nichole created with them.

If for some reason the link doesn't work, access Nicholes blog and scroll around in May 2008 or check out the Papertrey store under 'stamps' click on 'Favor It Baby' then go view that gallery.

Hope you find what you're looking for.

Have a good one.

Hey Kathi. What are the dimensions of the box you need....I might have a template or can quickly modify one to suit you. Were you thinking flip-top lid, or lid sepearte from the box? (That might depend on your box dimensions though)
