Foolin' Around

I commented in my post yesterday that my trip to Walmart netted some things I needed and some other things I thought I needed. One of those "things," was Martha Stewart's branch punch, and the fact that there was only one left was a sure sign that I needed it. While I've seen the punch used on quite a few cards recently, it was this one that made me want it in a big way. Julee has taken the wrap from quite a few bloggers who are looking for someone to blame for their having to have this punch. The reason is apparent. Isn't her card gorgeous? It's one of those cards that you just kind of stare at in wonder.

Now, about my card. Of course, when one has a new toy, one takes it out of the package and checks it out even though at that particular moment, you might not have serious play in mind. That's what I did. I grabbed a scrap of Topiary cardstock that was laying on my desk and punched a dozen little branches - so many because I was intrigued by how well the punch made the intricate cuts. Then, I put my punch in the drawer, pushed my branches into a little pile, and went off to do something else. While waiting for my husband to come home last night, I had a little vision for those branches, so I cut a "donut," using 1-11/16th and 1-1/4 inch punches and proceeded to use it as a base to create a wreath with my branches. It turned out pretty cute. It sparkles, too, even though you can't see it in the photo. To create the glimmer, I used a Gelly Roll Stardust pen to randomly draw on some of the branches.

Materials & Tools: White Daisy, Holiday Red, and Topiary cardstock; Hollydays paper packet; Holiday Red ink pad; Stampendous Holiday Words stamp set; Ribbon from Walmart; Topiary Brads; Sparkles; Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust pen; Martha Stewart Branch punch; 1-11/16 and 1-1/4 inch circle punches; Stampin' Up Word Window punch; Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive.

With that, I'd best get back to my "busyness." I parked the vacuum cleaner in the middle of the living room floor, thinking Marv might take the hint. No luck. I guess I should have set it on his recliner. Have a great day. I'm hoping to be back later with a little somethin' . . . In the meantime, enjoy Sunday!

I bought that punch, too, from Walmart, for the very same reason you did! Great minds think alike! Ü You've played with yours before I got to mine, though. Maybe here in a bit I can try it.

LOL at the vacuum comment...might have been a bit more "effective" if it was in the recliner, although it's also possible he might have hollered to you that the vacuum was on the chair and just moved it out of his way. LOL

Happy Sunday to you!

I LOVE your website...I love the fact that you post every day, sometimes more. You do such beautiful work and I'm a huge fan of yours. I do have a question that may be simple, but...How do your cards always line up so beautifully. Do you precut the background piece or do you use an xacto knife to cut the base the size of the card? You do such beautiful work...thanks for always sharing and for loving what you do...it shows!
