Spooky

This is one of those projects that most everyone but me has already done - a Genie Bag. However, if you're like me and haven't gotten around to it yet, the tutorial can be found here on the Splitcoast Stampers website. It was a fun and easy.

At some point in time, I'd picked up a package of 4-5/8 by 8-5/8 inch paper sacks at Michael's. Basically, what you do is make a card front and back to attach to the front and back of the bag. I cut the top of my sack down, and my card front measures 5 by 7. I opted to only decorate the front with thoughts that the little person I give it to probably won't care. As for what's going inside, it will most likely be several matchbox cards and maybe one sweet treat. That way, if someone ends up all hopped up on sugar on Halloween, it won't be Grandma's fault! The stamping pretty much explains itself. I attached the ribbon handles with Glue Dots sandwiched between the cardstock and the bag. Looking at it, I wish I'd opted for a yellow moon. Oh well, next time.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White, Orange, Topiary, Brown Bag, and Black cardstock; Paper Reflections paper sacks from Michael's; Black, Chocolate, and Orange ink pads; Cornish Heritage Farms U R A Hoot and Papertrey Ink Spooky Sweets stamp sets; Ribbon from reasonableribbon.com and CTMH; Black mini brads; Prismacolor colored pencils; Gamsol mineral spirits; Blending stumps; Cuttlebug w/Nestabilities Classic Ovals and Classic Circles sets.

I whined a bit in my last post and got that out of my system, so now I'll talk about something fun. Art Linkletter was right about kids saying the darnest things. Yesterday, I was in the bathroom (the lock doesn't work), and in walked little Mathias. "Mommy's pretty," he said in a very matter of fact tone. "Yes, she is," I responded, and then asked, "Is Daddy handsome?" "Yes, Daddy's handsome, and Bjorn's handsome, and I'm handsome, but not everybody is handsome," he said, shaking his cute, little head with the last phrase. A person has got to wonder what rolls around in the mind of a three year old. I got a kick out of that one but opted not to take the conversation any further. Tonight, I'm going to relax either in my corner or on the futon. I hope you had a good day. Thanks for stopping!

Love the bag. Our grandson's girlfriend is very much into Halloween, I could make it for her and put goodies that college kids like in it.

P.S. When our grandkids were little and they would say the darndest things I wrote them down. A couple of years ago I typed them up on Word. Sam saw them and replied "Did I really say those things?"

Nope, you aren't the last one to do a genie bag. That would be me! LOL

Those owls are growing on me,though I have no choice but to resist. I continue to marvel at your coloring. Practice, practice, practice I know. Ü
