Color Experiment

I looked out my window for inspiration this morning. I'll have to admit that I don't have the most glorious from my third floor penthouse. However, once you get past the parking lot, there is a field of empty lots with a lot of trees. Within my viewing distance, too, is township land which has been annexed into the city for a housing development. While street improvements have been made and the infrastructure has been installed, I don't anticipate any building going on for a while. Can you tell I've got the television on tuned into a news channel? Enough of that. It's time for some music. Regardless of the the economic condition of the whole darned world, it's a beautiful day in northern Minnesota - one that should be celebrated.

About my card, it's my adaptation of a card in Close To My Heart's new Originals book. The colors I used were inspired by some Stampin' Up color combinations I've been seeing and admiring. I might note that the stripes on the Colonial White background piece were stamped with the Journaling Jots set. While I haven't used the set as it was intended yet, I've used its lined stamps to make some cool stripes. Brown Bag was the color I chose for distressing, as for the leaves, I used the stamp rolling technique and sponge daubers and pretty much played around with them until they looked the way I wanted them to. If you're tired of the ribbon that I seem to be using on everything these days, let me warn you that you'll probably be seeing it until I run out. I love the stuff.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White, Goldrush, Juniper, and Chocolate cardstock; Goldrush, Autumn Terracotta, Brown Bag, and Chocolate ink pads; Nature's Vein and Say it in Style stamp sets; Ribbon from Walmart; Autumn Terracotta mini brads; Empressor tool and mat; Sponge daubers; Sanding block.

I had a strange night, falling asleep around 10:30 and then waking up at 12:30, feeling like I'd slept for 10 hours. I dinged around on the computer, cleaned my corner, and watched TV until around 3:30 when I fell back asleep. I slept until 8:45, just in time to say "See ya" to Marv who was on his way out the door for the day. Having satisfied my creative urges for a while, I'm off to do some housework and later, a little shopping. My wish for you is a wonderful day. Most likely, I'll catch you later.

How far are you from International Falls? Just curious...that's where my grandmother lives and my dad was raised.
