Big Sigh . . .

I probably shouldn't even post tonight. I'm in a funk, and I was about as indecisive in my card making tonight as I feel like I am about several other areas of my life.

The inspiration for my card came from this cute card on the Wee Inklings blog. The stamp set I used is a favorite, Angel Whispers. For my flower I stamped on the reverse side of my patterned paper and cut it out. The flower centers were cut with circle punches. The smallest one has four cardstock pieces beneath it - faux chipboard. I hadn't intended to do the "inlaid" thing with the flower elements, but when I attempted to adhere the patterned paper to embossed cardstock, the "bumps" came through and not in a very appealing way, so I matched it up to my embossing folder and ran it through the Cuttlebug again. It worked out OK but wasn't part of the original plan. The sentiment I used is probably a little too big but was "the one" I wanted to use. I cut a scalloped oval to back it but then decided it took way from the flower, so I cut another oval. I had a Cocoa mat cut, too, and ended up deciding to leave it with the narrow blue mat and some additional "white space." After so much hemming and hawing, I don't know if the finished card turns my crank or not.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White, Cocoa, and Indian Corn Blue cardstock; Magic Moments paper packet; Sweet Leaf and Cocoa ink pads; Angel Whispers stamp set; Impression Obsession cling-mount sentiment; Ribbon from Walmart; Sunflower Bigger Brads; 3M foam mounting tape; 1-11/16 and 1-inch circle punches; Cuttlebug w/Swiss Dots embossing folder and Nestabilities Ovals set.

OK. I'm better now. While I was writing this post, Marv called but didn't talk long because the cell phone reception between here and the cabin isn't great. As soon as he hung up, Dustin called, and I "talked" him from the cabin to Miranda's house, which is about 30 miles. The conversation reminded me of a few years ago when he lived 120 miles away. If, between here and there, he got tired on the road, he'd call and we'd talk until he got home safely. Frequently enough, that was in the middle of the night. I'll have to say early evening calls are preferable these days. Anyway, talking to him cheered me up. As for what my issue was earlier, it was kind of a combination of things, most of which I don't have any control over and thus, shouldn't fret over. I hope your day was a good one and tomorrow is, too. I'll catch you then!

I think it looks great, but I totally understand what you mean when you say "it doesn't turn your crank." How neat that you got some important phone calls just when you needed!

Big Hugs to you that today runs smoothly!
