Copper Butterfly

I joined a sketch group at Paper Craft Planet. If you haven't joined this online community, it's a fun place. And, even if your not a member, it's an enjoyable and inspirational place to look around.

This is my take on this week's Sketch Challenge. While I would not have had to do a butterfly card, I thought of this sentiment when I saw the sketch and decided to go with it. Different was stamping the sentiment on a piece of coordinating patterned paper. I think it worked OK. I stamped my butterfly with VersaMark on a scrap of the same paper and embossed it with copper embossing powder. Embossed on lightweight paper, the butterfly needed a bit of shaping after it was cut out. I rolled the top of its wings around a pencil to get them to lay right. I attached the butterfly to my card using a couple of Mini Glue Dots under its body. Because of the glare of the metallic embossing powder, this is another of those cards that is prettier in person.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White, Petal, and Desert Sand cardstock; Paper Garden paper packet; Chocolate and VersaMark ink pads; Butterfly Kisses stamp set; Copper embossing powder; Heat tool; Antiqued Copper mini brads; Stampin' Up Ticket punch; Piercing Tool; Stampin' Up Piercing Guide and Mat.

Out my window, the ground is covered with a thin blanket of snow this morning. With no wind, it looks peaceful and pretty outside. My cold is now full-blown, or at least I hope this is as bad as it's going to get. Coughing spells made sleep miserable until around 3 a.m. when I got up and took some cold medicine. I was hoping to feel better and do something fun with Bjorn and Mathias today. While we'll have a good time, I'm sure, it will have to be doing something quiet that doesn't require a whole lot of energy on my part. I don't have any stamping aspirations today, although I'm certain I'll find myself in my corner at some point. If I come up with something, I'll be back to show it to you. In the meanwhile, have a great day and thanks for stopping by.
