A Fun Tag and an Award

My friend, Jeanne, tagged me the other day. Here are the rules:

1. Get the book on your nightstand (or whatever book you are currently reading).
2. Open it to page 56 and find the 5th sentence.
3. Post the next couple of sentences on your blog, along with these instructions.
4. Do not go and find your favorite book, it has to be the one you are reading now!
5. Tag 5 other people to do the same.

The book on my nightstand that I am currently reading is 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper with Cecil Murphy.

Here is an excerpt from page 56, beginning with the fifth sentence: "Anyone who saw me or read the medical report said it was impossible that I suffered no brain damage. (Eva still jokes that on occasion she's not so sure I didn't.) Just as bewildering to all the medical people was that the accident affected none of my internal organs. That fact defied all medical explanation."

It's a compelling and inspiring story that I wish I'd taken the time to read sooner. I don't read nearly as much as I once did. When I was with the newspaper I was so busy writing that I didn't have time to read. With the exception of 24-hour news, I pretty much stopped watching television during those years, too. Now days, reading in bed is a pain. I have to move the book around to get a line of vision and the lighting has to be good. As for glasses, a woman who rarely wears them for anything besides distance driving surely isn't going to wear them to bed! I've only had glasses since I was 15. LOL.

I'm curious about what others read and am tagging Laurel, Tiffany, Lisa, Sylvia, and last but not least, the self-proclaimed "raving papercrafter" at the P[inks] blog.

Now for the award. I received this award from Laurel last week. A few months ago, I received a passel of awards from various people, which I didn't acknowledge. They came almost all at once, and I was overwhelmed. The fact that I didn't acknowledge the was not because I did not appreciate them, because I did/do. It's just that they embarrass me a little bit. Truly, I don't feel like I do anything all that special. As for passing them on, I wouldn't know where to begin because my inspiration comes from so many - from the most accomplished in the blogosphere to the simple stampers like myself who simply love what they do and take the time to share. With that, thank you to Laurel, and I share this award with everyone who reads this post. Oh, and by the way, Laurel posted this great card on Friday. From the title of her post I was expecting three guys on camels. While that certainly would have been OK, the laugh I got from her card was just what I needed.

And now friends, I'm going to go make a card! Later . . .

Hi Kathi, I have played your tag game. Today was our card club and some of the cards were inspired by you.

Hi Kathi, I have to be honest but even though I am a teacher and love teaching reading and writing I am currently not reading any books! and the ones that I do read don't have that many pages in them (grade k/1 kids books)! Having said that, I may start reading a new Educational book that I just bought about teaching writing!

Thanks for the fun tag Kathi. I wish I was reading something more interesting than what I am. *Ü*
