Woohoo!

Sometimes, one's just got to take a few minutes to breathe, which is how this card came to be. I was hoping to relax.

My card was made with a long-neglected (as in never been used) set of the cutest little owls I ever laid my eyes on. What you're not seeing in the photo is the owl's body which was cut out and attached with foam mounting tape. His eyes are gold gemstones that were in a pack of multicolor sparkles I picked up at Wal-Mart. As for the branch, I stamped it with Olive and then colored over the branches with a Chocolate marker. All simple.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White and Chocolate cardstock; Basic Grey Archaic 6x6-inch paper pad; Olive, Chocolate, Honey, and Bamboo ink pads; Chocolate, Honey, Brown Bag, and Bamboo markers; CTMH You're a Hoot stamp set; Cocoa Designer Ribbon Rounds (retired ... I think); Pewter mini brads; Gemstones from Wal-Mart; Sanding block; Sponge dauber; 3M foam mounting tape.

Yesterday was not a great day. There were several apartment building issues, which are typical when the hubby is away. I broke a tooth, a fake one and a front one at that. Thus, looking like a jack-o-lantern, I couldn't leave the house and, of course, get my errands done. While I have to go to work tomorrow, I will have to get my dental/denture issues taken care of first. Last night, Marv called to see how it was going, and I ended up crying on the phone - highly unusual. I'm the type who cries over the happy stuff - births, baptisms, weddings, etc. When the going gets tough, I usually buck up. Good grief. I didn't come here to whine.

On a brighter note, it's another beautiful day. Tomorrow, it's supposed to be 80 degrees, and looking at the 10 day forecast, it's supposed to be sunny and 71 on Saturday. Perfect. Additionally, I made significant headway on my "projects" yesterday. As my card says, "Woohoo!" That said, I'd better get back at it. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend, and thanks for stopping by! Later ...

The owl and your card are both so cute! And thanks for the fabulous idea of stamping the branch in a green and coloring over the limb with a brown marker - how easy to get the two different colors. Something I never would have thought of doing.

Love the card. I chuckled at your tooth story. I was eating lunch with a friend just before going to see my orhtopedic surgeon for the first time. My right front tooth broke off at the gum line. Horrors. There was nothing to do but go to the appointment. At first I tried to talk with my mouth closed. That didn't work so I just said "I'm sorry I just broke a tooth and feel like Lucille Ball in one of her comedy routines". I don't remember if that got a laugh or not but at least I felt better.

Have a good day.

Your card is just adorable - thanks for the tip about how to stamp the branch! Very smart of you!

I'm sorry you had a bad day - don't you think it's probably aggravated by the stress of the upcoming wedding? Take a deep breath, and know that you are loved, and the sun will rise again tomorrow.

Hugs dear friend.

God love your little owl card! She is my favorite of the bunch.

You have every right to break down and cry with all the stress you are under right now.

But I have to giggle to your jack-o-lantern reference. I had one of my fake teeth break off while I was interviewing a doctor - ha!!!

What wonderful weather for the big day! And you'll have a shiny new tooth to boot! Better that it breaks now than next weekend!

Well, what's that saying...when it rains, it pours? I guess you are in the midst of a gully washer of a downpour about now! So sorry to hear about the tooth and hopefully it can be fixed right quick. You ARE under a tremendous amount of stress and I'm glad you were able to make such a cute card to help you relax!

Huge hugs to you, my dear friend!

Sorry to hear about your tooth. Hope you can get it fixed right away.
Tears are a good stress reliever. I think the sad ones work better though.
Hope you're feeling better! Hugs!
