It Seemed Like a Good Idea

Roots & Wings_2_September 2010

A while back (long enough ago that I had forgotten where I had put them and had to hunt), I bought a package of Shake-It Pouches from Impression Obsession. Tonight, I had the bright idea to make a fall card with them using Flower Soft with a tree image. What I did not think about was the fact that Flower Soft is basically colored Styrofoam that – due to static – would stick to the plastic of the pouch. The look is OK, but it doesn’t shake all that well.

About the pouches, they are pretty slick, although next time, I will make a greater effort to get my paper placed over the pouch so that its flat rim either doesn’t show or is equal around the circumference of the circle. Live and learn – the story of my life. LOL. The next shaker card you see on this blog will probably involve snow when (and if) I can bear to think about it.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White, Cocoa, Desert Sand, and Autumn Terracotta cardstock; Retired CTMH patterned paper; Shake-It Pouch; Cocoa, Desert Sand, and Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink stamp pads; Renaissance by Design Roots & Wings stamp set; Cocoa grosgrain ribbon; Basic Craft Buttons; Autumn Flower Soft; Fiskars Apron Lace border punch; Cuttlebug w/Nestabilities Classic Circles set; Sponge dauber.

A Slice of Life: I came home early today with a stomach ache. It started last night. I was fine so long as I didn’t put food in my stomach. If I did, it hurt. This evening, I am fine again, so it must have been some little bug that came and went. Now, I need to get to bed, as I am being picked up shortly after 7 in the morning, which means I need to get up an hour earlier than usual. While that is not my usual Saturday routine, I am looking forward to a day with friends.

I hope you are looking forward to the weekend, too. It finally quit raining here … for a while anyway. It was nice to see the sun again. Take care, and thanks for stopping by.

Very nice - I like the fallen leaf look (fall is my favorite season)

You know what, Kathi? It looks like you are catching the leaves AS they fall and that is really cool! Great idea! I also really like the button treatment you used. Your card looks great!

I hope you have a fabulous time and that your tummy doesn't start acting up again!

I love it Kathi - I hadn't thought about the static cling issue - but for your photo the card looks absolutely perfect!! It's the essence of fall - I can almost smell the woodsmoke and apples in the air.

Enjoy your day - I'm glad your tummy is better this morning!
Hugs!

Kathi, until I read your explanation I thought you had made your card the way it is. I wouldn't have realized you didn't intend the leaves to be around the base of the tree. It is so pretty. Perfect in my opinion.
Glad you feel better to have a day with friends.

I love shaker cards. Didn't know there were ready made containers. I keep telling myself I have way too much stuff but might have to invest in some of the pouches. Your card is pretty cool. How was your Stampin'Up event?

I think your card is lovely. You and I both have a love of trees and this one is gorgeous. I hope your tummy is better by now.
