This was going to be a single-layer card until I stamped the sentiment crooked. How does that happen with clear stamps? I think it must be kind of like bowling. I know what I am supposed do to get the ball to hit the pins just right. It just doesn’t always work out that way. My brain gives the order. My arm does not listen. In bowling, if you don’t get them all the first time, you get a second chance. If you are willing to change your plan, there is often a second chance in card making, too. For this one, I straightened my sentiment by trimming, added a mat, and saved the “spare.”
Materials & Tools: Cocoa and Stampin’ Up Crumb Cake cardstock; Holiday Red, Cocoa, and White Daisy Pigment ink pads; Papertrey Ink Out on a Limb and CTMH Peace on Earth stamp sets; Speckled Background stamp (retired).
A Slice of Life: The party last night was fun. Our friend was surprised and delighted, and it was nice to have the opportunity to see some people I had not seen for quite some time. Today, I stayed in and took it easy. With temperatures in the teens, it is cold here. It’s snowing this evening. Maybe it will stay this time.
Whatever it was you did today, I hope it was enjoyable, restful, or exciting – whatever you needed it to be. I will be talking to you again soon!

Gorgeous card Kathi!
So pretty! I love all the snow!
Kathi, and that's quite a spare!! I love the little mat on this card - it really steps it up and I would have NEVER known that you "needed" it. Very, very pretty. This is definitely one for my special Kathi folder!
I'm heading to colder weather today - wish me luck! I'm not acclimated to it and have packed everything I own (quite possibly!).
Hugs!
Beautiful card, Kathi...especially the sentiment. Would never have known anything had been amiss had you not said so. It looks perfect!
Glad you had a lovely time at the party.
We ended up at the Museum of Nature and Science yesterday. I didn't know this, but apparently they found fossils of mastadons, mammoths and a giant sloth up in Snowmass. They were pulled out of the ground just a few weeks ago. And they had some on display for just the day yesterday. It was way cool. I didn't take my camera (dummy me), but Steve took pics with his phone. I may post them today if they came out decent.
Hope you have a great day today!
Spare - tee hee! What a way with words.
Honey, I can relate. I have the worst time stamping straight, positioning my elements straight - I don't know if I am just lazy, impatient, careless....it's a constant battle!
Love your card, especially the sentiment and snow. We are getting yucky rainy snow here today. I like the nice white fluffy stuff.
This is just gorgeous Kathi. I love it. I'm glad you could salvage the card.
