Testy Tuesday

I've been told that I'm cranky tonight. While he might be right, I'll try not to let it affect my post.

My card has some positive elements that didn't quite come together. I was initially inspired by this very pretty card on Katie's My Paper Haven blog. Producing a card like that, however, required this technique found on the My Paper Adventures Blog. I had seen the technique before and was intrigued by it. For whatever reason, however, it didn't work for me. While I can't imagine what I did wrong, it was a mess, and thus, in the future, I'll be be admiring the cards of others made with the faux suede technique. I ended up making a card with the stamps and materials was laying on my desk. For the background, I reversed the faux dry embossing technique, stamping the image with Berry Sorbet first and then with White Daisy pigment ink slightly to the lower right of the first image. The result was stamped images with shadows, which is kind of interesting. I added the punched border next and then came up with the flower, which is pretty enough, but all wrong for this card. . . I think. Perhaps the problem was where I put the flower. I don't know. While I've had cards that have grown on me, it didn't happen with this one. Nearly 24 hours after the fact, it still looks a bit off kilter.

Materials & Tools: White Daisy and Papertrey Ink Berry Sorbet cardstock; White Daisy pigment ink and PI Berry Sorbet ink; Legendary Moments stamp set; Paperbilities flower; CTMH Just Blooms Big Pinks and Summer Posies; White satin ribbon from Walmart; Wilton oval pearl brads (bridal section at Walmart); Fiskars Sunburst border punch.

Although I haven't uttered a word since I sat down at the computer, Marv went outside - to get away from me, I think. Other than the fact that I'm really tired tonight (and shouldn't be), I don't have any reason to be grumpy. At least in talking about it, I'm starting to see the humor of the situation, which means I'm "coming out of it." With that, I think I'll go find my hubby and let him know he doesn't have to be scared of me and then, I'll see what I can come up with in my corner. As always, thanks for stopping by . . .

I think your card is awesome! Don't be too hard on yourself :) I wonder if Marv is just cranking himself? Ya never know?

I like the colors on this one! Lots of frilliness, too! Ü

Hope you try the technique again to see if maybe it was just a fluke tonight.

Hugs!

I really like your card! While it may not be quite the look you were going for, it is still wonderful!
