Wonderful News

On October 12, I posted a card along with a prayer request for my friend Lesley and her husband who are in the process of adopting a little girl from Guatemala. Last night, they received the call they have been waiting for. Their adoption has been approved by the Guatemalan government. While the anticipated time frame for the rest of the process (as described on their blog, Patiently Waiting for Daphne) is six weeks, they are not counting on having their little girl home for Christmas but rather in time for her first birthday on January 18. When I heard the news this morning, I cried. I've watched this young woman go through so much, and I am so happy for her. She will be a wonderful mother. In recent weeks, I've also learned a lot about international adoption, and while perhaps, what occurs in foreign countries cannot be controlled, there is no reason why American adoption agencies should be allowed to be as corrupt as some obviously are.
