Our friends in Canada, the UK, New Zealand, Australia and quite a few other commonwealth countries have it made in that December 26 is a public holiday, Boxing Day. In my opinion, it should be a holiday in every country that celebrates Christmas, as I found it nearly impossible to simply jump back into my normal life today. I could have used a day to do nothing besides breathe. I'm lazy and tired with only enough energy to take on the simplest of projects.
This magnetic coaster calendar fit the bill. I'm going to make a bunch of them to tuck into holiday thank you cards and the few New Years cards I'm planning to send. It's a great project for using up scraps. The coasters I have are 3-1/2 inches square, and I happened to have just the right scraps from the Creative Basics Silhouette collection laying on my desktop tonight. I was going to paint some more flowers with the Create-A-Shade paint when I spotted my jar of Just Blooms Summer Posies and told myself, "They'll work!" I like the splash of color. I adhered the paper to the coaster with a tape runner. The flowers and leaves are attached with brads and Liquid Glass. The centers of the two small flowers are smallest clear Sparkles. Lastly, I finished the back with a piece of black cardstock and a strip of magnetic tape. The self-stick calendar pads are from vippies.com. With that 10-minute project done, I'm calling it a day with hopes that tomorrow will be a little closer to back to normal - whatever that is . . .
