Back to Business

Here's another card using the "Faux Silk" technique. I like this one much better. The design is intentionally simple as not to detract from the focal point. The stamped images are from one of last year's Stampin' Up hostess sets, Oh, So Lovely. The colors I used are Twilight, Vineyard Berry, and Colonial White. The images were colored with Vineyard Berry, Garden Green, and New England Ivy markers. The ink from the markers is wet enough that you have to be careful not to tear the tissue paper. It needs time to dry, too. Impatient me accelerated the drying process with my embossing gun. I used Twilight textured cardstock to give a design so simple a little more class. I'm not going to pick on myself tonight either. I like this card.

Speaking of cards I like, Nicole Heady from Papertrey Stamps has an incredible card on her blog, Capture the Moment. I'm anxious to the see more of Papertrey's new Out on a Limb set. I think I might just love it, and you know what that means. There's quite a few new stamps, papers, and accessories in Close To My Heart's new catalog that I love, too. In fact, my wish list is about as long as my arm. I was thinking that I've been really good this year . . . It's only the 10th . . . There are still 21 shopping days left in January!

It's Friday tomorrow. I finally worked a whole week, or at least every day. Today was my "review" date, and I started the week with both vacation and personal time to burn. I left work early Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. With the exception of six minutes, I got rid of my time, only to start over with it all back tomorrow. Free spirit types like me do not fair well with time clocks or a certain number of hours allotted for vacation and/or illness. People who are supposed to be creative do not thrive in a gray cubicle in a building that has no windows. It's time for a change. Does anyone know of someone who needs a writer who knows a little about a lot of things but not a lot about any single subject?
