It's a Kiss Carton!

Once in a blue moon, I get a wild hair to make something besides a card. I knew I had to try this milk carton box when I saw Beate's project on her Fresh & Fun blog the other day. The tutorial is here on the Splitcoast Stampers website.

As I've had my share of flops when it comes to making boxes, I usually grab a piece of white cardstock for my "prototype." However, a Cranberry piece, which looked to be about the right size, was laying on my desk just waiting to be turned into a milk carton. The box is made from a 7 by 11-inch piece of cardstock. The finished dimensions are 2-1/2 by 2-1/2 by approximately 4-1/2 inches high. I'll let you get the rest of the information and the directions from the tutorial. When it comes to tutorials, Splitcoast Stampers' are hard to beat, particularly if you prefer visual tutorials. While I have little doubt but what I couldn't have completed the project with written instructions only, I so appreciate the photographs.

For my box, I used stamps (a stamp, actually) from my favorite Delight in Everything set. A piece of Cranberry grosgrain ribbon and a white Just Blooms paper flower attached to a small round metal-rimmed tag with a Cranberry Bigger Brad complete my project.

I wouldn't classify this box as easy, although it's always easier the second time someone does something. Nevertheless, I would not commit myself to making 300 of them for wedding favors (I've learned my lesson the hard way on that one). I could see myself making 10 of them for party favors. Finally, a hint for those using Close To My Heart cardstock: The white core of our cardstock did not add to the attractiveness of this particular box, so I colored the edges with the side of a Cranberry Marker (brush tip). While it's seldom necessary, I sometimes color the edge of my cardstock when I'm making a card, too.

Unless I get another wild hair, this little project is going to be it for me tonight. I'm going to throw a couple of loads of clothes in the washers, take a nice, leisurely bath, and then cuddle up on the sofa with the new Stampin' Up catalog. I'm hoping to fall asleep early so I can get up and go to work early tomorrow. If I go in early, I can leave early, which is a great way to kick off the weekend. Later!

P.S. I'm also going to eat those four Hershey's Kisses.

I saw this tutorial as well and sure wished I could have tried it by now. I'm so glad you tried it with CTMH products and I have an idea of what I can do using my supplies.

I am hoping to get to do some creating this weekend. It looks like my daughter is going to stay home from school again tomorrow....
