Inkspired

My card was inspired by this card I saw earlier this month on the groppi girl blogs blog. While I love everything about Lauren's card, I was particularly drawn to the color combination, which I duplicated as close as I could with Close To My Heart papers. Instead of brads, I jumped on the opportunity to use three little green acrylic discs. I'm feeling so trendy . . . thanks to my friend, Jeanne! I'm giving her a hard time on her blog again. She took her little girls to the Denver Zoo on Monday and to the Museum of Science & Nature yesterday. I told her I was more envious of the zoo and museum than I was of all the craft stores she has nearby. After all, I can shop on the Internet! From the sounds of it, Jeanne and her family are experiencing weather a little nicer than it is in northern Minnesota, too. It was only when she mentioned the word "traffic" that I thought perhaps I don't have it so bad. The only driving difficulties one experiences in Thief River Falls involve waiting for an occasional train. Actually, I just like to tease once in a while, particularly when the one I'm teasing is so good-natured.

Materials & Tools: White Daisy, Black, Sweet Leaf, and Lilac Mist cardstock; Black, Sweet Leaf, Lilac Mist, and Spring Iris stamp pads; Simple Blossoms and Papertrey Ink Mixed Messages stamp sets; Cuttlebug w/Bloom Dots embossing folder; Edge Distresser tool; My Legacy Writer black pigment pen; Acrylic discs from Michael's.

At work, I finished up the "big" project that I'd been working on for what seemed like forever. I've really got stuff piled up right now, enough that I'm not wondering if I shouldn't put some extra time in for a few days next week. I can imagine myself going in early, but once 5 o'clock comes, I've had enough regardless of what time I start. I think I've gotten a little spoiled since my newspaper days. There it was anything from phone calls from the police department at 5 a.m. about a bear who had wondered into town and was sitting in a tree (a photo opportunity, I guess) to midnight interviews with someone who'd just landed at the airport (and the story to write afterwards). I loved it at the time (maybe not the bear thing) but don't think I'd have the stamina for it anymore. Marv got some stuff straightened out with the clinic today regarding rehab and a prescription (one of 11) that was wrong. I had to get a little stern with him earlier in the day in order to get him to make the call, which shouldn't have been necessary. At least, he did it . . .

That's enough of my crazy life for tonight. Even though I stamplifted it, I feel pretty good about this last card . . . like I might have my mojo back. Maybe it was the normality of nagging my husband earlier that propelled me back to my real world. Who knows? Thanks for stopping, and I'll be talking to you on Friday (as in tomorrow - yeah)!

Ohhhhhh Kathi, this is so pretty! I have all the supplies here, so I feel inkspired as well!

I think we are paying for the couple of glorious days we had this week. It's gloomy again today. And be thankful you don't have to deal with traffic!

Love that you feel comfy enough to tease me! :o)

Hey Kathi!

It's been a long time - I'm impressed with you site. I just popped in this evening and really like the card! Glad to hear you're busy and keeping out of trouble (yeah, right!)
