Something Different . . .

This card was inspired by Nicole Heady's acetate card on her Capture the Moment blog. I love the ideas on her blog. From what I read on another blog this morning, sneak peeks for Papertrey Ink's new releases are set to begin tomorrow. I can't believe that it's "that time" again already but certainly look forward to it. It will be fun to see what they've come up with.

My card required a couple of tries . . . My first attempt involved piecing paper the way she did using scraps from the Elegant Bouquet paper packet. It was ugly - too busy, too many bold patterns, ugly. Besides, I adhered the strips to the card front using a glue stick, my adhesive of choice when working with strips of paper. A glue stick was not a good choice for this card because of the extra fold next to the spine. The card was too stiff and didn't want to fold. Had the strip of paper been the same width (one inch) as the acetate fold-over piece, it might have worked. Have I lost you? Anyway, I had to trim the acetate a little to get the card to close, too. I don't know if that's because I didn't read the directions or what. When there are photos to look at, I'm often guilty of catching the dimensions and then skipping the rest of the words. You would think I'd learn . . .

The stamping for this card was minimal. What you can't see is that I softened the Colonial White pieces a little bit with my Speckled Background stamp and Bamboo ink. My friend Jeanne from Creative Bliss has been busy with some great cards and projects and gave me the idea to use a sticker from the Elegant Bouquet My Stickease packet with this great card. I considered using some Liquid Glass on the sticker but then deemed the detail of the sticker was too fine to get the Liquid Glass to look good so I opted to add Crystal Stickles to the centers of the flowers instead. The card was kind of fun and after a few adjustments, turned out in the end.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White cardstock; Elegant Bouquet paper packet and My Stickease; Clear ink jet transparency film; Cranberry ink pad; Because of You stamp set and retired Speckled Background stamp; Gold mini brads.

Beautiful. And, from your description, a testimony of determination. Pat yourself on the back for this one. It really is a pretty card.

This is a lovely card and so worth the effort to create it. Thanks for the mention...I got the idea from Kim! LOL We are all so helpful to each other aren't we?

I love PTI's release sneak peeks too. I can't wait to see what else they come up with as the week goes on.
