Inspired

My card was inspired first by this card I saw on Lisa's blog and again by one I came across on the CTMH consultant's artwork board. I absolutely adore Lisa's card, but not wanting to copy it exactly, I decided this would be a good opportunity to use up some of that retired background and texture paper that's still in my stash . I located the dress template on the Splitcoast Stampers site. Wouldn't this make a fun bridal shower invitation done up to match the colors chosen for the wedding? There isn't much to explain. I used a glue stick to adhere the bodice and three Glue Dots to attach the skirt, one at the waist and the other two on the corners of the skirt bottom. I used an X-acto knife to cut slits on either side of the waist to run the ribbon through the back of the card front. The white background, if the photo doesn't show it, is textured cardstock.

Materials & Tools: White Daisy, Carnation Pink, and Black cardstock; Retired CTMH Spring Blossom Background & Texture paper; Black ink pad; Papertrey Ink Mixed Messages stamp set; Stampin' Up Whisper White taffeta ribbon; Sanding block.

We went to a birthday party for Mathias at the boys' mother's house this afternoon. With the exception of Marv and me and Cameron, the guests were mostly members of Havie's family. It's nice when an estranged couple and their respective families can do what's best for children. While there is absolutely no hostility, we don't gush over each other either. I guess the word to describe it all is amiable and like I said, it's good for the boys. We live next to a facility where children are exchanged between parents in the presence of an intermediary. How sad that there are people in this world who have children together and then can't get along well enough to exchange them without a middleman. Children deserve to be put first. 'Nuff said. Bjorn and Mathias are first with a lot of people, and hopefully, if we all work together, that will be enough.

Between little stops in my corner (scheduled to help me hold on to my sanity), I'll be spending the rest of the day scrambling to prepare for the week ahead. Between children, work, and school, Cameron is scrambling right now, too, trying to stay caught up. The nice mom that I am, I told him to bring me some laundry. I may live to regret it . . . Later!!!
