Tedious Tuesday

My card for tonight was inspired by this sketch on the Poetic Artistry blog. I colored the images first and was then left with the dilemma of selecting papers to go with it. Desiring something a little more than solid cardstock, I decided to use the solid (almost) side of CTMH's retired background and texture papers. Aiming for a rustic look, I stamped my images on retired Naturals cardstock. I think I might have been just as happy with the card if I'd used white paper, Rustic might be looking a little drab. Spring is no time for blah.

Materials & Tools: Retired CTMH Naturals and Cocoa cardstock; Retired CTMH Autumn Garden background & texture papers; Black, Autumn Terracotta, Garden Green, Olive, Hollyhock, Grey Wool, Chocolate, and Indian Corn Blue ink pads; Hollyhock, Garden Green, Indian Corn Blue, Olive, Autumn Terracotta, Grey Wool, Cocoa, and Sunny Yellow markers; Stampin' Up Blooming With Love stamp set; Dove Blending Pen; Brown mini brads.

I am exhausted tonight for no good reason other than the fact that my day was rather routine and a bit tedious. I suppose I could have stirred something up with someone and probably could still pick on the guy on the other side of the door, but I think I'll leave him alone for tonight and take my weary butt to bed instead.

I did come across something interesting today that, as a huge advocate of mothers staying home with their children, I thought I'd pass along. There is a company based out of Denver called Alpine Access that hires people to work out of their homes. The jobs are phone-based, taking sales calls. Note I said "taking" sales calls, not "making" sales calls. This is not a telemarketing scheme. Instead, this business provides customer service solutions for a number of reputable companies. The hourly rate of pay is only $9 per hour, but from what I understood from the magazine article I read, there are incentives and opportunities for advancement. Besides, many of the young working mothers I know are not netting $9 an hour after paying for daycare and gas to get them to and from their jobs. The company also has a full benefits package, including a 401K retirement plan. While this particular company only hires 2 to 3 percent of the applicants who apply, I was encouraged to see that there are legitimate companies like this. Alpine Access' website is worth taking a look at.

Hi Kathi.

Your spring themed cards, even though rustic, is a nice breath of spring cheer as we have had nothing by grey, dreary skies for a week now.

Off to look at that employment site ... just to be nosy!

Kathi, I truly doubt you could make anything look drab. Not everything about spring is bright! Gotta get thru the dirt to see the beauty. This card is lovely as is!

Hopefully today will be vigorous and not tedious! :o)
