Every child . . .

Earlier in the week, I noted a challenge on the Nona's Pearls of Wisdom blog - to create a card or layout using "collector's items" aka stuff you purchased on a whim, or that you've been "saving" for the perfect time, or stamps that have yet to see ink. This set fits the criteria. I purchased it a while back for the purpose of making baby cards and hadn't gotten around to using it . . . until 4 a.m. this morning, that is.

My card is very simple - all that I was capable of at that time of the day. I also experienced difficulty in balancing the stamped images and certainly wouldn't have minded if the sentiment (which I love) were smaller. I colored the baby with Prismacolor pencils and stamped the sentiment in Grey Wool with thoughts that pink ink would be too light and black ink would be too harsh. Looking at the photograph, I can see that a strip of a coordinating colored paper (run through the Cuttlebug maybe) down the center might have help solve my balance dilemma. Why is it I see these things but only after they're in front of me on the computer screen? Next time!

Materials & Tools: White Daisy and Baby Pink cardstock; Sweet Pea paper packet; Black and Grey Wool ink pads; Baby Miracles stamp set; Prismacolor colored pencils; Gamsol mineral spirits; Paper blending stump; Stampin' Up Whisper White taffeta ribbon; Cuttlebug w/Nestabilities Classic Circles set; Stampin' Up Horizontal Slot punch; 3M foam mounting tape.

As for the 4 a.m. card, contrary to my plan, I didn't go to bed until after midnight last night only to wake up at 3 a.m. bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. I literally fooled around for about two and a half hours before deeming myself tired enough to lay down again. By then the sun was coming up. I slept until 10:30 and can't say I feel all that "well rested," which is too bad, because I've got places to go and things to do today. With that, I'm off to the shower to see if I can wake myself up. At the very least, I'm planning on some intermittent stamping sessions, so, if you get the chance, stop back. In the meantime, enjoy the weekend!

Ahh, but be thankful that you got to sleep in until 1030am! When I have my insomnia bouts (sleep until 2am, then wide awake ... but tired again around 545am), I only get to sleep until 8am or so -- which makes for a not-so-nice mommy on most days. Ugh.

Sorry to hear you had a bout of insomnia, but you made great use of the time you were up. I think the card looks great!!

Hopefully tonight you will sleep better.
