Paper Obsession

I was thinking about my buying habits the other day. Yes, I do think about them. I even exercise some self control once in a while - quite frequently actually. I see something new, it seems, every day. However, I seem to develop periodic obsessions with different categories of products (i.e. stamps, tools, paper, etc.).

I've been relatively careful with my stamp purchases lately. I bought the most practical wedding set I could find. The U R A Hoot set, other than the fact that it's so darned cute, works for graduation, birthdays, and numerous other occasions. Before I purchase a CTMH set, I ask myself if I'm going to want it after its retired, which, if the trend continues, could be relatively soon (or at least, "soon" by my standards). With the exception of some more Nestabilities (the ovals set is currently on the "list"), I'm good in the tool category.

Lately, my obsession has been for paper. I really like the little 6x6-inch pads put out by several companies, including 7 Gypsies. I saw cards made with this paper somewhere in the blogosphere, and I had to have it. After a Google search for "7 Gypsies Sushi," I found it and bought it from an eBay seller who lives in Minnesota. I love it, and unlike the Basic Grey pads that have two sheets of 18 different designs, this pack has eight sheets of six different patterns. Because I like all of the designs, I like that type of assortment better. It means I won't be running out of my "favorite" right away.

My card is simple, the first time I've used Silhouette Blooms I in true silhouette fashion, I believe. Instead of throwing the little 1/2-inch strip left from cutting from my paper to card size, I created the little band at the bottom of the card with it.

Materials & Tools: White Daisy, Vineyard Berry, and Dessert Sand cardstock; 7 Gypsies Sushi variety pack; Bamboo and Desert Sand ink pads; Cornish Heritage Farms Silhouette Blooms I stamp set; Gold mini brads; Cuttlebug w/Nestabilities Classic Circles set.

I'm feeling like the rotten relative today, as attending my nephew's confirmation this morning just was not in the cards today. It would have put me in a time crunch, and besides, I wanted to spend some time with my grandsons today before they go to their mother's house for the week. I dislike having to make choices like this. I dislike feeling guilty about it even more. The good thing is that I doubt when he gets a card with some $$ in it, my nephew will care whether he saw my face or not today. Teenagers are like that.

My yen to create temporarily satisfied, I'm off to continue with "Project Organization." Later!

Love your cards. Your buying habits made me chuckle. My recent obession is Dew Drops. And since we live in the middle of nowhere I have to order them off the internet. I have tons of paper but did recently order some card stock from CTMH. And the Boom Di Adda paper. That is so cool. And I like making cards out of the paper packs. In fact I spent over $200 on my order and most of it was tools. Tonight we are in Ft. Wayne Ind on our way to our granddaughter's graduation in Colorado.

Oh my Kathi, this is so pretty! Had to chuckle at your spending splurges. I'm pretty obsessed with paper myself, lately. LOL

Back to the card, I really like the paper you used, the colors are gorgeous and they set off that silhouette perfectly.

Love the card and I love the paper too! My spending habits have not been so great lately either. I definitely have an addiction to scrapbooking and card making supplies. For a while there is was beads for making jewelry but I have laid off of that for a while. Have enough beads to last me for a while. Thanks for sharing your great artwork!
