Thought for the Day

It's early or late . . . depending on how you look at things. I just finished writing the eulogy that our nephew is going to deliver at the funeral service for my father-in-law tomorrow . . . er, today. I didn't procrastinate but rather needed to hear some of the memories that were shared at the prayer service. Clayton surprised us all last night, in having the last word (which wasn't untypical for him). He'd written a letter that he gave to Marv's brother to be opened and read only after his passing. It wasn't a deathbed message. Rather, it was dated December 23, 1975. In the letter that my sister-in-law read last night, he told his wife how much he loved her and addressed each his children, expressing his love and sharing a few words. He told Marv to take care of his wife and his mother. Dustin was sitting next to me and I whispered, "You weren't even born yet." His quick-witted response was, "And you weren't the wife Dad was supposed to take care of." LOL. Oh, yea. Marv and I weren't married until December 23, 1977. Regardless, I knew, as did his grandchildren who were yet to be born, that the sentiments expressed in his letter extended to us as well. With that, I'd best catch a few Zs. The photo is one I took three years ago when Marv and I had the boys out for a walk in their stroller. The quote from Lincoln is one that I love. My wish for you is a wonderful day.
