Christmas Break II

This card is dedicated to anyone and everyone who is tired of red and green. Don't get me wrong. I'm no Scrooge. I just don't see any sense in making any more cards I'm not going to have time to send - before the holiday, anyway! I would laugh, but in truth, I'm not thinking it is all that funny. There have been years when Christmas has crept up on me but never have I been this far behind the eight ball. Nevertheless, Christmas will happen, and it will be good, even if it's not the Martha Stewart affair that exists in my imagination.

Tonight's card is my take on Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #47. I used Close To My Heart's Make it Count stamp set. I stamped and distressed the background. The clock has a piece of acetate that you can't see over the clock face. I also mounted the clock with foam mounting tape - another detail the camera didn't pick up. As for the sentiment, the copper embossed birthday piece was not intentional, but rather it was added to cover up a poor stamping job. It looks OK, and had I not told you, you might have thought me clever. LOL.

Materials & Tools: Colonial White, Bamboo, and Black cardstock; Silhouette Creative Basics Collection (retired); Copper metallic cardstock; Bamboo and Black ink pads; VersaMark ink pad; Copper embossing powder; Make it Count and Say it in Style stamp sets; Ribbon from reasonableribbon.com; Black mini brads; Acetate; Heat tool; Cuttlebug w/Classic Circles set; 3M foam mounting tape.

I'm going in to work for two hours tomorrow and then leaving for a 5-3/4 day break - the longest I've had since starting my job at Digi-World almost (as of January 7) six years ago. Marv and I are going to Grand Forks tomorrow to, most likely, shop until we drop and celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary. It doesn't seem possible that 31 years have passed since December 23, 1977. We were 24 and 28 years old. Our hair (and his beard) was a solid color. Our faces showed lines of neither laughter nor worry. He was several sizes smaller. For the 11,315 days we've been together, there are as many memories, most of which, regardless of a few rough spots, are good ones. Best of all, there's more to come . . .

After going to bed late last night and getting up early this morning, I'm going to take it easy for the rest of the evening. I hope you've have a good day and that, ready or not, you're looking forward to the holidays. As always, thanks for stopping, and until I talk to you again, take care!

You mean we are supposed to be ready for Christmas? Cards in the mail before the 25th? Oh well, maybe next year.

Happy anniversary!

Happy Anniversary Kathi. I'm with you on the Christmas thing - I am way behind this year as well, the working full time and being sick has really put a damper on my 'Martha Stewart' affair as well. Although, I used to try to be Martha Stewart for my holidays, now I prefer to hide away in my craft room so I think I am just happy to have an excuse to not do what I usually have done for Christmas!

Merry Christmas

Happy, happy Anniversary, Kathi! I have to agree that the two of you look so very young in that photo, but what a wonderful moment captured.

I think I handmade a total of 3 holiday cards this year and Martha doesn't come to my house. She would absolutely shudder. No worries, it's going to be a great holiday whether the house is pretty or not.

I hope you enjoy your well-deserved break from work and the holidays with your family.

Hugs!!!

Happy Anniversay!!! It's always nice to see someone else who was crazy enough to get married at Christmas. Love your picture!

As for the "Martha" Christmas, I gave up on that this year, too. For the last few years, I've made presents and ornaments for everyone, done crafts with the kids, made new decorations, you name it. This year, the cards went out on Saturday--not handmade this year, just photo cards, no handmade gifts, nothing. Going back to work put a damper on all that. However, I am off for two weeks and I'm hoping to at least bake some cookies today. Have to let me inner Martha out somehow--LOL!

Have fun today!

Hey Kathi!
Congratulations on 31 years with the same man! Its hard to believe time flies by so fast. My DH and I have been together for 30 years, married for 28 of them. So, I can so relate!
As for your card...I LOVE IT!!! The stamp set is one of my favorites as well as the paper. You know...we can never have enough cards such as this on hand for any occasion. I have tucked it away to CASE at another time.
I hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas and I look forward to more of your posts in the New Year.
Inky Hugs,
Leanne
